How do I get the cable off of the gas pedal?

grab the pedal and lift it up away from the floor, while doing this, take a small flathead and pop the black grommet out of the top of the pedal arm, there is a small slit in the top of the pedal arm, popping out the black grommet allows the cable to slip out.

When the Carpet was replaced its a little thicker due to the layers of sound deadner, and thicker carpet padding, so now I have to really mash it to get WOT and just want to know who to fix that.

pull some of that crap out from behind the rug, there is no adjustment on a gen 1 throttle cable.
