Markviiiedrea January 20th, 2005, 05:06 PM 60.5 CI = 1 leater /4.6 = 281 MrWilson January 20th, 2005, 05:19 PM Why!? well iv gotten a bunch of 289, and some 281, like markviiidrea. it does work out to 281 with the math, and that is the size of the new mustang's 4.6. edelbrock says 289, and my mechanic says 281, i cant get people to agree. i say its 289, but ...its just confusing thats all Moes8 January 20th, 2005, 06:15 PM 289= 4.77liters Jeep/dodge 4.7L v8 is 287 cubes, Fords 4.6 is/always has been 281 ci. thats why it gets the 4.6 name ,not 4.7 or 4.77 or 4.8 i think ford should have made it 289 for nostalgia lol Mike MrWilson January 20th, 2005, 09:22 PM ok, well i always thought it was bigger than the chevy's...but w/e hottweelz January 20th, 2005, 09:36 PM ACtually there are trademark laws with CIDs ... thats the issue at hand. A Ford 5.0 is a 302, and Chevy 5.0 is a 305 but divide by 60.5 and what do you really get.. Chevy had a 302 until Ford sued and started Trademark laws for Auto CIDs ... Dodge being the smart ones could care less and made a 5.2/5.8 :p MrWilson January 20th, 2005, 09:37 PM dodge always did go against teh grain concerning cid's 8p Moes8 January 21st, 2005, 05:34 AM ACtually there are trademark laws with CIDs ... thats the issue at hand. Dodge being the smart ones could care less and made a 5.2/5.8 :p although fords 351 is truely a 5.8 and dodge had the 5.9 right? chevy calls their 350 a 5.7? i guess its all just a numbers game, probably why all the manufacturers just like to call them by ther metric displacement now. mike MrWilson January 21st, 2005, 10:23 AM just call em...either small silly econ, medium semi decent econ/powerful, or uber power hoper! ...i guess that will be a little hard to fit on a valve cover though? eh?
