camthman August 20th, 2008, 05:17 PM Alright everyone, the time has come. I am getting rid of all my stuff. I will give a brief description of each thing. If you need more info I would be more than happy to answer your questions.
Lincoln LS Turbo setup - This would come with EVERYTHING you need. Top to bottom. All of the exhaust, intercooler, piping, MAFia, fuel pump, injectors, and even the dyno tune. I used only the highest quality parts and have put TONs of hours into this. There is no one who makes a COMPLETE kit like this. I also have the dyno charts showing everything. This is totally the complete works. I have ALL of the receipts for everything that totals around $6000.00. PM if interested and we can talk about a price..
Painted MClaren Grill - Silver birch, perfect condition. $100 plus shipping.

Painted rear surround - Sliver birch, perfect condition. 75 plus trade for your stock one.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/2328279066_e7910e7c06.jpg
Body kit - I have come to the conclusion that this is a rare body kit which isnt seen often at ALL. Looks similar to the wing west kit but I actually like mine better. There are subtle differences. $600.00 plus shipping.

Lastly,
OZ rally Ultraleggara wheels. - 18x8. 245-50/17. I have spent ALOT of time getting these wheels on my car. These wheels are basically custom fit to the car. The bolt pattern was custom drilled for 108. Backspacing was shaved to fit the car. Also come with nitto INVO tires with 95 percent tread left. The wheels and tires are in PERFECT condition. The best part about them is that the wheels only weigh 15lbs each. You will not find a lighter wheel for the LS. I am asking $1000.00 for them plus your stock wheels and tires. I dont care what shape your wheels and tires are. (my car is going right to the dealer and off to auction).

Invos are great. I have tried alot of tires and these ones were perfect. They are SOOOOO quiet. Hard to find a quiet performance tire.

1- Do you know how much it would have to be modified to fit a 1st Gen? Just the rear valance probably?
2- Any idea how much shipping would be to 06340?
thanks

Yes, but $6K and you already advertised how you blew the motor as well. As soon as I heard that I will not even bother turboing my LS, I will sell it and buy a Jag Type R after the winter instead.
Quik LS August 24th, 2008, 09:30 PM it's just nervousness - you only were running for 4days (between your dyno run/tune and the engine letting go). of course people are going to be neverous - not of your kit - but of power-adders in general, even if this failure wasn't related to the turbo.
no different than when someone posts a thread of a N2O backfire taking out a car - everyone sitting on the fence about adding N2O to their cars thinks twice.
02V8Sport August 24th, 2008, 09:32 PM ^ Thanks Quik, thats where I was going with my post.

01lssport August 24th, 2008, 11:04 PM Will this kit work on the V6?
lincoln_1999 August 25th, 2008, 07:13 AM I'm sorry about your LS :( .
pektel August 25th, 2008, 07:55 AM I remember him saying Z06 a while back...
pektel August 25th, 2008, 07:56 AM Will your turbo kit mount up to a gen 1 V8? I would think at the very least some of the piping would have to change (I'm pretty sure the TB is in different location)
SPSully August 25th, 2008, 08:19 AM well honestly, you have to take into account the fact that the economy is kinda crappy right now too!
SPSully August 25th, 2008, 08:24 AM Will your turbo kit mount up to a gen 1 V8? I would think at the very least some of the piping would have to change (I'm pretty sure the TB is in different location)
His turbo and IC and so on and so fourth will all work in the first gen. Cam ran piping differently than ILLS has been (not sure better worse or indifferent) but its the same as if you bought the kit from ILLS and had to custom install it yourself. No matter what kit you buy for whatever car, it has to be made just right for your specific car. There is no such thing as a direct bolt on turbo kit. But to answer you question as direectly as I can, it SHOULD be awfully damn close. It'll be different from the FMIC to the TB, but that is the easy part!
camthman August 25th, 2008, 10:26 AM I understand that my motor blew quickly. But it has been shown that the turbo works fine on the LS. There is nothing in this setup that is incorrect. I have used ONLY the best parts and manufacturing for my turbo setup. The problem is people dont want to pay for quality. And.... I never really advertised 6 grand. Someone asked, and I responded in the price range I was looking for. I never started a For sale thread with the price.
This kit should fit the gen 1 pretty closely. It might need a LITTLE modification to work.
ILLS August 25th, 2008, 06:11 PM Yes, but $6K and you already advertised how you blew the motor as well. As soon as I heard that I will not even bother turboing my LS, I will sell it and buy a Jag Type R after the winter instead.
I think you and some other people are jumping to conclusions here. There are two other turbocharged LS's running around that have not blown their motors and are daily driven. I don't really care if anyone else chooses to turbo their LS but you guys are being way too hasty and skiddish when assuming that it is bad for you to turbo your LS. There are many reasons for an engine to let go that a turbo system has zero affect on.
NYC LS8 August 25th, 2008, 06:32 PM If I had the dough, I'd buy it. No doubt.

I think people are over looking that with a few turbo LSs a SC LS and many sprayed LSs running around that it has been proven that the LS can take all kinds of performance mods. ILLS is dead on when he says there is a vast array of unrelated things that could go wrong. After talking to cam about his install and during his install, he did a nice job with it. He had some ideas that were different from what had already been done but they too wouldnt be THE reason for his motor. Bottom line here is these motors can be force fed, and sometimes you just draw the short stick. Cam unfortunately drew the short stick.
Noone backed of off the NItrous when I backfired and blew my intake to hell, this shouldnt deter anyone from a turbo!

+1
I haven't checked the thread lately, but my recollection is that Cam's engine failure had nothing to do with the turbo--it was just one of those things. I also know of at least one N/A LS V8 that blew out the bottom end (there's a thread about it around here somewhere) and one LS V6 that had a con rod stretch and beat the piston into the head, and neither had any significant power adders. The AJV8 is a fairly bulletproof mill, but it's still an imperfect machine built by imperfect people, and, you know, s**t happens. The fact that it happened to Cam's engine doesn't necessarily imply that his turbo setup is a problem.

You cans see all the Jet hot coating. I took apart the turbo and had the housing jet-hot coated. All the exhaust has been jet-hot coated. ALL madrel bent. ($$$) All the oil lines I used are the BEST quality you can get. The feed line is Stainless steal and the return line is EXTREME high temp line. You can see that I put alot of time and effort in this. I would love to see someone pick it up and put it on their LS...

TDUB October 11th, 2008, 12:12 AM Single exhaust exit then?
Quik LS October 11th, 2008, 08:20 AM Single exhaust exit then?
you can see in the pic - although the two exhaust manifolds are brought together into a single tube, the passenger side exhaust is fed from a small pipe split off of the single exhaust going to the turbo. So you will get exhaust smoke coming out both tailpipes, but the passenger side is reduced to prevent too much flow by-passing the turbo.

camthman October 16th, 2008, 09:38 AM Did you get your new car yet? If so.. what is it?
I like your turbo, but I want a supercharger..
Well, the thing is... I have a complete kit that is ready to go. Your going to be doing ALOT of custom stuff to get the supercharger going. Also, the noises that come from the LS with the Turbo on it are QUITE amazing. :):)
Silver_LS October 16th, 2008, 10:09 AM I'm sure it does sound great. Unfortunately the SuperCharger setup is supposed to be a little lighter on the pocketbook.. My wife says I have to wait until April when I come home from S Korea, so I can't do anything until then anyway. I do hope someone picks this up as I would hate to see your setup go to waste..
Anyway, so.... what are you looking at for a replacement?
I just realized.. We had very similar LS's.. 03 LS8 Silver Birch

Silver_LS October 19th, 2008, 04:56 AM I'll be getting some money at the end of this month, I'll give you a serious offer no later than 2 November... If you still have it then. As much as I've been waiting for the SC, your setup should seriously go right into my car, being the're about as close to the same as you can get. Plus you have it tuned for Gen2 whereas the SC would be a lil different than it is on Quik's.
I have a question though, did you still have 2 exaust pipes running out and one of them was just for looks, or did you have to remove it to make room for the turbo back there?

Because I don't trust the military pay system. I want to know the money is there before I go for it. I can imagine my luck, I give cam a deposit and then money is late showing up. It was ontime last year, so I'm gonna hope for the best but still...
Plus, getting my wife to agree wasn't easy, she's not going to let me touch the sav. acct for it though.
Anyway.. how many more days lol

Damn near all the settings in his 03 turbotune will work in your 03 also. You may or may not have a different PCM box code even though you have the same model year. Even then you can have a local SCT tuner take Cam's tune, save all values, and then load those values into your tune. While the tuning will be very close I do suggest that you have your local tuner verify that your AFR's and spark is doing what it is supposed to if you do pick Cam's turbo system up. This is a good measure whenever doing FI.
I didn't want to steal any of Cam's thunder but figured I could help with a little knowledge here. ;)
autococker985 November 6th, 2008, 11:03 AM That is good to know since you are my tuner. So if i do pick this up you will recieve a call from me once it is deleverd. I still havent posted him an offer but i will do soon.
thanks for the info.

Hehehe. I know I am your tuner for your N/A stuff but for turbo I suggest that you have someone local to you verify that everything is kosher if you use Cam's tune. Remote tuning for N/A and more mild mods is totally fine and safe. Remote tuning for FI is less doable because it is best if the tuner is actually there with the vehicle in person. It is a precautionary measure that needs to be taken with FI that you normally do not have to do with a regular mild mod N/A car. Chances are likely that you will be able to cross Cam's tune over to your vehicle and be mostly good to go, but it is still best to double check it in person.

NYC LS8 November 20th, 2008, 11:22 AM I just started a new job - for more money. If you still have it in a few months, you may be hearing from me. Although I hope you don't still have it for your sake. ;)
lincoln00 November 20th, 2008, 11:27 AM couldn't that be from a bad tune? piston failure... I would think the skirt wouldn't fail unless excessive load on the piston?
Quik LS November 20th, 2008, 11:32 AM load - you mean like increaed boost in a high compression engine by means of a turbo?
in a bad tune - you would see things like burnt pistons, holes, ....etc - not a cracked skirt IMHO
lincoln00 November 20th, 2008, 11:36 AM excessive load from a bad tune.. high cylinder pressures, from firing ignition to soon?

cammerfe December 8th, 2008, 12:19 PM I agree with above comments---a cracked piston skirt has nothing to do with the turbo. The kind of failure to be found with a turbo would have to do with the piston crown. The only cracked skirt I've ever had happened just as cam described---driving in a normal manner---but I was in stop-and-go city traffic. I had to drive clear across Metro Detroit to get home. I burned a whole case of oil. What a mess. Engine had about 10K miles on it, using new cast pistons.

Thanks for confirming. :)
Quik LS December 10th, 2008, 12:59 PM Did you actually see the piston? did it chip hitting the rod or crack?
not as a counter statement, but as an aside -
I personnally have broke a ''few' piston skirts in a turbo'd car - running much hgher boost level than what we are talking about here. The skirt craked right either below or above the pin hole (usually it's a re-enforced area) - all can assume is that as we turned the boost up, the piston met more resistance on it's way up ((or more explovise force during detonation) and when the rod didn't bend the wirst pin broke the skirt where is was held.
if the skirt broke below the pin - usually not too much of a mess, but when it broke above the pin - big mess.
I buddy continually crack the bottom skirt edge when over-revving a new stocker he built... most times accidental when he blew a shift.
