A guy I know on another forum just picked up a 93 mark. that is showing an air ride fault code.
does any one know whats required to pull the codes?
I know the old mark 7's would do a flash sequence when prompted are the 8's the same?

There's an Air Ride test port on the passenger side well under the hood.

yeah i am aware of that, but my scanner at work doesnt do fault codes for air ride (snap on MT2500)...so im trying to avoid a potential expensive visit to the dealership, is there someway to flash them or possibly could someone chime in on what its possibly doing...heres the symptons

car sits over night sometimes front end will go down..or only right side will go down with the DS only slouching very minor 1/2inch or so..rear end doesnt drop what so ever...then today driving the air bag fault in the info centre came up..and when i got home from work the car was flat on the ground in the front end within about 30min..so i started it up air up in a matter of seconds and that was about 2hrs ago and its still sitting perfectly level...i was looking at airbags today the rubber and the strut itself is in very good shape not rotted or cracked..is it possibly a ride height sensor or is there a solenoid or something that controls the bag, that could be possibly cause the problem?

I've always used my NG Star tester, so I can't help you out with anothe recommendation.

I'd check Solenoid O rings first. Especially if only one side went down like that.

ok one more question...is the solenoid locate somewhere around the bag? or?

Follow the Air line going into the bag. you'll see it there.

depending on what your most recent update or the MT2500 it should be able to get the codes by going in and using the Superstar II emulation mode ive done it with mine a few times, ill type out the proceedure.


This is basically from ford, i pulled it from Alldata.
FUNCTION TEST
1. find the DLC, front pass. side
2. Turn the air ride OFF
3. set scan tool mode to fast, set HOLD/TEST to hold
4. turn ignition switch OFF then ON. ensure both doors are closed.
5. connect scan tool to DLC set HOLD/TEST to test.
6. read and record codes.

AUTO TEST
1. find DLC
2. ensure air ride is ON
3. set scan tool mode to fast, set HOLD/TEST to hold
4. turn ignition switch OFF then ON. ensure both doors are closed.
5. connect scan tool to DLC set HOLD/TEST to test.
6. code 10 will be displayed while auto test is running. any faults detected will stop the tests and be displayed on the scan tool. CAUTION: DO NOT LEAN ON THE VEHICLE WHILE CODE 10 IS DISPLAYED, THIS WILL CAUSE A FALSE ERROR IN THE TEST.
7. when code 12 is displayed open the drivers side door and turn the wheel 1/4 turn in either direction, then close the door.
8. read codes

Well i hope this helps in some way, if you need the code numbers ill post them as well later.

thanks alot, i will check out that tommorow and see what happens, really dont want to do a coil conversion i have a tbird and its just not the same after driving the lincoln

i came up with code 45

Steering Rotation not detected. Sensor is up by firewall on steering shaft. Probably some crud or rust?

Keep in mind that the system goes to sleep an hour after the ignition is turned off. After this hour, the system shouldn't make any adjustments.

If the car goes down AFTER that time......you have a leak.

To explain, the solenoids are like a gate for air to go in or out. (When the system goes to sleep, the solenoids are disabled) When the solenoids are closed, no air you should go in or out. If the car does go down when the switch is turned off or after the system goes to sleep, you have a leak....period.

well anyways i was reading up on mitchell today and it said when it says check airbags the pump will not run anymore...so it came on during the ride home and i noticed car was still sitting ok, so i turned car off then started it back up..pump kicked in for 10sec tops then went off shut car off and its still sitting perfect..will check in morning..i think once the system is shut off cause of fault its more likely to lose pressure and drop
