Blowdown Tube

For anyone that has mounted their bottle sideways, just behind the fold down seats, what did you use for a blowdown tube? I would only use the tube at the track. To avoid drilling, I just want to vent down to the grommet in the spare tire well. It seems like if you sit the bottle and pickup tube properly, the blowoff fitting is aimed in the worst possible direction. If I pick up a U shaped tube, are you allowed to attatch something to the end of the tube to make it the rest of the way?

My bottle faces the other way, so that the valve is closest to the wheel well. I originally fixed up a blow-down using a short length of -8 stainless braid, but was told that it wasn't allowed.

I next used the tube that comes with the Pro NX package. I bent a 90 in it and it was just the right length to go through the wheel well bulkhead by an inch or so. I had a rubber grommet in my junk box that fit perfectly. Problem solved.

Oh, so there's a grommet on/near the wheel well somewhere? I'll have to take a look. If thats the case, the nos blowdown tube should work. I'll have to call to find out if I need extra parts with the bottle I have (nos-07006).

I want a bottle opener, but its last on the priority list. Next item (other than maintainance) will be a bigger fuel pump so I can run a 125 shot. It also keeps me out of trouble having it manual- I just have to make it into the car without cracking it open. I'd have all sorts of tickets if it was as easy as flipping a switch. It sure would be handy though for the unexpected occaisions.

I drilled a hole through into the wheel well. I made it to fit a -8 bulkhead fitting in the first place and when told I had to use the aluminium tube, I found that I had a grommet that fit the hole and fit around the NX tube. The hole is above the tire in the wheel well.
