i bought this pipe bender http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=35336 from harbor fraight the went to napa and got 10ft of 2.5 inch exaust pipe when i got home i tryed to bend the pipe but all it did was crush the pipe and not bend it. is my pipe not thick enough or what help!!!!!!! please

If it didn't bend then it must be either too thick of a wall or of a high strenght steel.

thats a pipe bender, not a tubeing bender. i have that same bender and it works decent on pipe.

I heard somewhere that you could try to pack the pipe with sand so that there is something in there to help keep it from crushing.
I have never done it though so idk how it works.

The only way to make that bender work with exhaust tubing is to fill it full of sand and duct tape the ends shut, or if its cold out fill it full of water and let it freeze.

Yep, the sand will act more or less as a mandrel over which the exhaust tube can bend and stretch but not crush or kink. Make sure that when you bend you try to do it so that the welded seam of the tube is on the side of the bend. To help the sand pack better I suggest filling with water to assist with compacting the sand better too.
