steagle June 25th, 2008, 12:23 PM and dammit, i think it looks pretty friggin good! it matches very nicely with the chrome & blue tinted turn signal bulbs. i still don't like the chrome surround on the grille but when it comes time to change that i'll just buy another emblem, only $15. pics will be coming soon... have to finish painting the inside of the logo with silver paint but should be done by the weekend.

jk52781 June 25th, 2008, 12:35 PM Good I am glad you decided to go with blue over red. The blue will look nice. I hate that you are making me wait to see.:(

NYC LS8 June 25th, 2008, 02:02 PM Note to anyone who wants to post a thread about a new mod. Don't do it unless there are pictures!! Some of us don't like to read :p
PatrickSimmons June 25th, 2008, 02:15 PM Reading is soooo hard. It took me 20 minutes to sound out what you said NYC LS8.
rickztahone June 25th, 2008, 03:35 PM did you get both emblems for 15? if so, where?
steagle June 25th, 2008, 04:01 PM no just got one for the front. i dont think the blue will look good on the back between the red tail lights. it will be too busy looking.
sorry for no pics yet, GEEEEZ :P i'll take some tonight of the unfinished emblem.. then tomorrow after i paint the interior silver and put it on :)
rickztahone June 25th, 2008, 04:37 PM how difficult was it to remove the oem one and put this one on? i'm debating if i should do this or not, but in red. let me know

The stocker pops right out with a little persuasion.

have yet to put it on... wish it had the clear plastic cover of the stock emblem but i think it will still look good.
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 01:46 AM You have it backwards, the etched part with the groove is where you paint and the film protects the front till you put it on.
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 08:34 AM I wanted to add a few things.
Make sure you paint the right side of the emblem. The side that is etched out is the side that is stamped and I doubt you want that right out in the open. That is the side you paint, just paint in the groove, put on the double sided tape stuff and then apply it to your grille. After that you can leave the film on for a bit but it wont last long so then take it off.
I said I don't like the blue emblems and well I don't but how ever may I suggest this. I used a Testors Paint marker to do my red star on mine but I think if you go out and get the paint code TS touch up paint for the star on your emblem it would look good since silver is what you said you were going with and TS is the Silver Metalic Frost like some:D of our Lincolns.
This may be to late of course.
Good luck.
steagle June 26th, 2008, 11:09 AM thanks for the tip jwerner and yes it's definitely getting painted silver, i'm walking next door to the art store (convenient, huh) in just a few minutes to get some paint and a fine brush. my emblem didn't come with any double sided tape  would gluing it on be overkill?
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 11:16 AM my emblem didn't come with any double sided tape would gluing it on be overkill?
I would say so. Just get some 3M tape from the same store.
steagle June 26th, 2008, 12:02 PM just did the first layer of paint with a Pilot silver marker... looks pretty good so far. got scotch foam mounting squares that i'll cut to size, they're pretty damn strong. will have some pics of the finished product later today.
pektel June 26th, 2008, 12:42 PM 3M makes trim moulding tape, and it's readily available at WalMart or any auto parts store. I'd use that before the scotch foam stuff. Just because I don't know how well the scotch stuff performs in outside (wet or freezing) conditions.
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 01:10 PM also 3M has some very thin yet very strong tape out that I would recommend before something as thick as the Scotch foam stuff. The Scotch foam stuff can be tough though but I have had instances with some of the 3M tapes were it seemed as if it was getting stronger over time.
EDIT: I take that back, that Scotch stuff sucks! Now that I'm thinking of it it is the same stuff I got awhile ago to hold up pictures. It is the little plastic hooks that come with the foam scotch tape. I hate that stuff now that I thought about it. I lost a few pictures that I hung up with that stuff when we moved in.
steagle June 26th, 2008, 01:21 PM true but we're talking about a picture that probably weighs at least a pound or maybe even several pounds, whereas the lincoln emblem is a few ounces. the mounting squares work pretty well outside and we don't really get wet or freezing weather in LA very often ;) oh well it was only a couple bucks so if it doesn't last i'll get a different product.
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 01:32 PM True I just thought I would state the reason why I would take back my own words;) .
Mine came with that rubbery like adhesive. It was like a Grey sticky putty.
CobraStar_LS8 June 26th, 2008, 05:01 PM Check this out you guys
http://www.fordf150.net/howto/customemblems.php
JWerner2 June 26th, 2008, 05:26 PM Thats some good thought but I don't think that would apply to our emblems.
Do a search, it has been covered and it looks very simple.
As far as I know from what I read all you have to do is remove the emblem by way of choice, sand off the black paint and just re-paint it.
Correct me if I am wrong.
jk52781 June 27th, 2008, 08:38 AM Alright Steagle, all this talk about the emblems. I hope to see final pictures today.:)

it's the HTC Touch, i thought the camera sucked at first, but when you shrink the photos down from their original size (native is 1600x1200) they look great. and sure i'd be glad to help, what emblem are you getting?
rickztahone July 2nd, 2008, 03:56 PM i'm leaning towards the read. post some more pics when you can (close-ups)
