You could do it with exhaust, some minor bolt ons, and either a 100/125 shot.

if i was to do another motor i would do like a 200-300 shot all the way down the track

i ran 15.25 with my fat rear and about 3-400 lbs of fire gear in my trunk. that was also my first time running, so i assume that without the hinderances it would have run round 14.7-8, and it doesnt take too much to knock off .8-9 sec's(that is if there are already no mods)

my goal is 12 flat so like you Im starting a buld up Kook has a nice set of headers for about $550 uncouted, and a custom exust from a good shop ran me $450 with cats. there are a cople places that will custom make a tork converter with any stall speed you want for about $660. superchips makes a good chip for about $300. and just to be sure for about a 3.73 rearend for about $190 would defintley put you in the 13's. so lits see that looks like $2150 for mid 13's no NOS or stuff like that will give you the consistencey to give you a 1/2 desint run. Tires are also recomended 245/50/16 BF Goodrich KDWS.

How about 3.73s, exhaust, a Vortech S-trim with a 25hp shot, with some chip tuning! That's my intentions. Unfortunately, it's gotta be done by April 17th fun ford weekend..goin for broke..literally! I don't think there's a cheap way to make a 4,000lb car run 12s or 13s without removing trimming the fat which means giving up some comfort on Mark VIIIs. I want the performance but, I love my bell and whistles! (-:

That is not so true. There is a guy on another site (Nocera...the guy in one of my videos I posted) that has basic bolt ons.....full exhaust (headers and all the way back), 4.30's, mass air/conical filter, 90MM MAF(I know he got a lightning.....), built tranny, a chip (which has been reburnt several times) and he runs in the high 13's with a full stereo system with several amps and 2 JL12W3's in the trunk.

There is also a guy (ModPwr here) that ran 12.9 with s vortec sc.....not sure what else he had done, but it was mildly boosted (according to him). So, with what you plan you should EASILY be in the 12's.

Just make sure you know what you are doing as far as upgrades before you get the chip....or you will have to have it reburnt for each upgrade. Also, I would recommend a Baumann Engineering shift kit as well.......you will be impressed. :Beer

Heres the formula we came up with in 1999 to put these cars into the 13's.

Enjoy.

You don't have to gut your mark to make it fast. there are many companys out there that make DOHC Crate engines that will put out 1200HP, at the crank that will fit in the car with the stock mounts. now estamate a 10% power loss betwen crank and street. that would be 1080RWHP, even at 4000LBS wou can still move fast. An F-Body is 3800LBS w/o gas or drivers, if they can do it why cant we? We can.

oK tHATS A GUTED STANG I was talking about an F-Body witch a mustang is not. And how did y'all get 2200lbs that seems a little to low, 2900 or 3000 seems more resonable

2200 lbs? It must only have one seat and a steering wheel in it. I have had many a Stangs and yes I too have gutted many a Stangs as well and never got under 3k and that was with a Notchback with lexan windows in the rear 1/4's and fiberglass hood with no bumpers front or rear, no sway bars etc.
