unity May 1st, 2008, 07:38 PM Cant decide.
Mercedes silver or regular jet black?
Need my car painted badly and I keep getting torn between these too. Black is so "old" and over-done yet easy to work with. Mercedes silver has such a rich look with the proprietary metallic additive thats used.
Anyway. What would you go with?
kustomizingkid May 1st, 2008, 07:47 PM Mercedes Silver!
Black is a very good color on the Mark, but is very overdone. Silver is just as classy, looks very good on a Mark, and is a little less maintinece than black.
unity May 1st, 2008, 07:59 PM Ya... thats what I am leaning towards. And there is something about the factory Mercedes silver that just looks "right".
Anyone else?
vr4 May 1st, 2008, 08:04 PM silver
Blenderhead May 1st, 2008, 08:08 PM One more for silver.
kustomizingkid May 1st, 2008, 08:08 PM What color is the interior?
unity May 1st, 2008, 08:32 PM Its ebony.
chicken May 1st, 2008, 08:49 PM id lean towards silver :D
i hate OWNING black cars they are never clean always look dirty, unless your Debi that wipes her car down at every stop sign. silver is great even when its dirty it still looks clean from a few feet
*edit* silver with black interior FTW!!!!!!!
Sal329 May 1st, 2008, 09:00 PM BMW M3 Carbon black color code 416...
Or BMW Titanium Silver color code 354
I still love the Carbon Black if I could ever paint my car it would be that color.
pepperman May 1st, 2008, 09:08 PM Another one for Silver.
kustomizingkid May 1st, 2008, 09:23 PM I would strongly say silver with the black interior.

Thats BMW carbon black. And that is one HECK of a detailer!
kustomizingkid May 1st, 2008, 09:31 PM Maybe Derick got to that one lol...
JMiles_T May 1st, 2008, 10:20 PM Black is fine, if you're diligent about keeping it waxed.
Otherwise, go with the silver.
jolinc01 May 1st, 2008, 11:35 PM Another for silver. It's much easier to care for.
Goddard-MarkVIII May 2nd, 2008, 02:31 AM That looks like a damn mirror. Whats that color those cobras had that changed from different directions? aberesense or pearlesence...thats the color I wanna get :D but I would go black if I was you...nothin beats a black car at night..
Moes8 May 2nd, 2008, 04:51 AM Silver +20
kustomizingkid May 2nd, 2008, 08:34 AM The chameleon blend that the Cobras got in 03?
ford nut May 2nd, 2008, 10:19 AM Black......marks look so dam good in black.
With the right wheel....alittle tint....you cant beat black.
But I never been much for silver "sorry chicken"
Aquabrit May 2nd, 2008, 11:47 AM Blue......marks look so dam good in blue.
With the right wheel....alittle tint....you cant beat blue.
:D :D :D :D
Seriously though, i prefer black, or that graphite/gunmetal gray like Joey's - thats a nice color.
Mind, from a maintenance point of view black could be bad.
XLRVIII May 2nd, 2008, 11:58 AM +1 for silver w/black interior.
I just picked up a second gen with Silver Frost exterior with medium black interior...
have had the car for two weeks and I haven't washed it yet.. and it still looks as clean as the day I picked it up.
Looking at ChickenVIII's car, I really like the silver second gen with those wheels.
unity May 2nd, 2008, 01:08 PM Thanks guys. You raise some good points. Black can be sexy and stealthy at night and it can be panel painted, no need for blending. But with silver I wont have to worry about cleaning as much, however the color silver I am going with I think will look great on a Mark and since I am coming from Opal Opalescent it will be easier to blend at the doors. It will be harder and more costly to paint. I also think the trim will look nice with silver whereas with black I would have to do something about it, probably paint it black also.
I'll talk to my painter. He just painted a Mercedes and mentioned the special metallic flake they had to order. Then its just a matter of getting another vehicle while the Mark is being rejuvenated.
The fun part will be painting the under-side. Probably do that first so over-spray on the body wont mater.
Thanks guys.
crownvicjim May 2nd, 2008, 01:26 PM id lean towards silver :D

i like the way your mark looks in that picture below your original comment. it almost looks two tone because of the shadow on the bottom of the car. the top looks a bit lighter than the bottom. maybe just the picture, but it looks great.
