Nightsky 93 VIII January 6th, 2005, 09:32 PM Here is the first picture of the promised grill.
I'll post more pics after I get it fit on my car better tomorrow in the light of day.
Pricing is going up to around $250, but I will be offering a rebate on the first round if your willing to put in a down payment/earnest payment.
1wykdmk8 January 7th, 2005, 05:49 AM That thing looks pretty good, I will have to wait and see it on the car to see if it will work for me. I kinda need the factory portion that goes all the way around the grille itself for what I have in mind....but looks good none the less. :Beer
DOHCtor_Mark January 7th, 2005, 11:08 AM That grille is HOT!!!! And, anything looks better than my highly abused factory one...$250 is cheap compared to replacing that plain-jain... When will they be available? Email julian.pierce@navy.mil when they're ready for order.
Thanks,
Julian
DOHCtor_Mark January 7th, 2005, 11:10 AM Also, I'll be rolling through Houston in April on my way to Corpus.
ONEBADMK8 January 7th, 2005, 02:23 PM No offense but IMHO its not that much off stock?
The ends are bent funny on the bottom. The tops are cut all uneven.
Looks a little on the tacky side for me.
Ill keep with my grill.

As always, your welcome to your oppinion Geno. I like your grill too, but most people don't have that bad custom spoiler on the back either.
The top pieces of the grill will be covered, not important. Check out the picture in my next upcoming post.

Oh right cause the trim will be there (DAA ME!!) What about the bottom part? Is that bent area just on the first one deal and will be more uniformed on the regular ones? ALso a Lincoln Star in the middle would do it justice I think. It should be easy to adapt even for the buyer if you don't do it.
Either way its the same price as a stocker (or less?) and who wants a stock rill anyway. LOL!
Joeychgo January 7th, 2005, 02:33 PM will these be chrome or painted or what?
Nightsky 93 VIII January 7th, 2005, 03:00 PM OK, for all those that say words are nothing...
Yes, they are close to stock. That is what 65% of the population wanted when I did polls about this. About 25% wanted horizontal and another group wanted something custom like yours. I went with those that wanted the stocker look.
Prices will be put in stone in the next week or two and I'll set up a link to do the orders then. This will require some time and effort for the install. It took me about 3 hours total to remove and fit the new grill. Put aside a bit more time to color match the mounting brackets on a car that is not black like mine(buy touch up paint and paint the mounts, screws, etc.).
Here are the pics, I hope you like them I fought hard on this 'little' project.
ONEBADMK8 January 7th, 2005, 03:16 PM Looks great but those end pieces should be a one piece border type look. They look unfinished just bent in at the bottoms. Other then that it looks great.

I also wanted the ends to come around underneath but it would cost more and I wanted to keep the price right. Welding and finishing those ends would be alot more work and time.
ONEBADMK8 January 7th, 2005, 03:50 PM I also wanted the ends to come around underneath but it would cost more and I wanted to keep the price right. Welding and finishing those ends would be alot more work and time.Yeah true. Have you tried to leave the ends a little shorter and straight.
NickLS January 7th, 2005, 04:00 PM Looks like something "The Punisher" would drive...
NickLS January 7th, 2005, 04:01 PM In a kick@$$ cool way. :)
lincolnboy January 7th, 2005, 06:32 PM i thnk that pricy for that.......liek geno said it need a border at the bottem. and more space between the bars... :waving:
seanklsc January 7th, 2005, 07:02 PM It reminds me of the bristles that baleen whales have so they can eat plankton. You know how they say Mark 8's have whale exteriors? Well, now it's complete :)
Nightsky, I think it looks good. It could've used a border at the bottom but if the price was too high, then yeah leave it out. Can we have more pics of the car from far away? I wanna see the effect it has.
GrayGhost1 January 7th, 2005, 07:32 PM I don't have a Mark VIII but that grille looks hot. I'm with Geno, the stock emblem or the like would look great on the front.

Actually the digital photos make it look a bit different than it really is. I took it by the track last night and XLRVIII saw it. He noted that it looked like the stock grill until he inspected it. It really does not look so gawdy in person. I'll see if I can put it next to another stock Mark to show the difference side by side.
Sifrino3 January 9th, 2005, 08:22 AM It seems to stick out a little to much. . .
MrWilson January 9th, 2005, 10:59 PM yep it NEEDS a bottom border, and also i think it would do it much justice if it had an old horizontal star, instead of the one that is currently on there ( i too also wanna see one with horizontal bars)
PHIL ANDERSON January 23rd, 2011, 02:57 PM i say a cobra star in a lower corner would be nice
LaserSVT January 23rd, 2011, 03:00 PM Kinda looks like a Gen1 ran into a Gen2
chris2523 January 23rd, 2011, 03:16 PM dang. this thread is old. did this ever go anywhere beyond this one?
brentalan January 23rd, 2011, 03:19 PM Don't think so.
98lincmk7lsc January 23rd, 2011, 03:55 PM Man, lincolnboy sucked at posting way back then also....

philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 07:17 PM Thank You Phil for necroing another thread. And the OP's car is for sale now. He says its famous.
GMAN January 23rd, 2011, 08:01 PM Man, I can't believe Mike's thread was brought back to life. He did finish the grille back in 05. Mike wasn't a big LVC guy. He was big on LOD. He still has his Black 93, but it hasn't run in three years. Sitting in the front yard.
philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 08:03 PM On .org its for sale. He says it runs and is famous.
GMAN January 23rd, 2011, 08:06 PM I've ridden in his car back in the day. It'll run again, but he wont get what he wants.
philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 08:09 PM Yea if it don't run, he wants waaaaayyyyy too much. He makes no mention of it not running in his add.
GMAN January 23rd, 2011, 08:23 PM Don't quote me though. I haven't been to his house in over a year. Something may have changed. I did however tell him that his car isn't worth much any more. I want his rear end, and if he does decide to part it out, that's the only thing of value on the car. Everything else, nothing to write home about.
philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 08:35 PM Here is the add

Raped Ape January 23rd, 2011, 08:39 PM Why would he go elsewhere to list it instead of here. This site is much larger in user count than markviii.org?
philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 08:42 PM I dunno, but the kind of person who thinks their pos is famous, is someone I don't want here. Plus I'm sure he knows that the price he is asking would get him bashed up and down the message board.
GMAN January 23rd, 2011, 08:50 PM When I got my first 93 back in 04, Mike was the first Mark owner I met, and he lives close to me. His car runs like a scalded dog, and back in the day every weekend, the Texas Marks down here would meet up at Lonestar raceway.
Here's (http://nightsky.home.texas.net/markviii/mycar.htm) his Mark.
Sapperfire January 23rd, 2011, 08:51 PM looks about as famous as all the other bland ones
BAD97LSC January 23rd, 2011, 10:21 PM nice add, 235 lookers, no pics, and a month old and not a single reply lmfao!
philly0420 January 23rd, 2011, 10:24 PM Yea no chit you would think a famous mark like that people would be lining up to buy it.
Aquabrit January 23rd, 2011, 10:27 PM Not a fan of that grille design he planned to sell. :yuck:
