Check Traction Control

Yesterday I was driving my 2000 Lincoln LS V8 and the warning came on the dash saying to Check Traction Control. Along with this warning, the ABS light as well as the spinning wheel light came on. I pulled over and shut off the vehicle and the traction control problem disappeared for a bit and then once I started going, so did the ABS light. However, a mile later, both lights came on again with the Check Traction Control message. I tried slamming on the brakes to see if I could get the ABS to activate and maybe reset itself or do anything but that didn't work. Any ideas on what this possibly could be off hand that would have both of these activate at the same time? No matter what I do now, the ABS light stays on and the other 2 things follow within 20 seconds. Thoughts? Thanks!

common-ish issue - likely a wheel sensor.
