going to Replace timing chains & tensioners

hey everyone,
Search was uneventful so new thread time
well the time has come & I have got really sloppy chains too much for the tensioner's to tighten up (even manually) So just out of curiosity the only chain I have ever replaced was in a 302 V8, but am curious if I can change just the chains without having to align all the cam sprockets etc...
Can I just take a sprocket off and throw a new chain on or do I have to align all 4 cams with the crank??
I really don't want to jump a tooth but I really don't want to change everything and not have it in time
From my experience if I just replace the chains & tensioners without rotating cams or crank....BUT I AM NO MODULAR EXPERT!
Any help guys would be appreciated
and the best chain Kit probly right from ford I am guessing
Thanks

You need some special tools to hold the cams in alignment. It is bdefiently not a job for someone who isn't confident with a wrench.

Yeah if the motor was not so strong I would not do this, but I have whicked compression straight across the board & tons of oil pressure, It's just getting a little noisy under decel now & really don't want the pos chain to jump:(
other than that it be no prob I will dig in to it sometime in the very near future!
I have a lot of experience under the wrench with the rear engine dragster and all Just want an open opinion on the best way to a DOHC engine

Are you absolutely sure it's the tensioners?? The only reason I ask is that I thought I had bad tensioners(noise on decel. also), but am almost certain now I don't.
