Alright guys... this will be my last post about the stereo stuff... I'm sure I got all the info I need now... just one last thing... I've seen a post about how to take the dash apart and now I can't find it... I only need the bezel around the head unit and what not... I know you have to pop something off on the bottom around the climate control... and then what?... a couple screws and the removal tool... I think that's about it... I just really don't want to crack or break anything

I have never done a markviii before but a good tool from removing trim and ect without breaking it is a screw driver pick with a curved end. Works great for that kinda stuff

Push in on the bottom left hand side of the defrost switch plate, this will cause the top left hand corner to stick out a little, grab that and gently pull out, now do the same with the right hand side. Remove the Radio with the U-shaped removal tools. Below the defrost bezel there are two screws that hold the woodgrain trim on, remove those two screws and then gently the trim towards you. That should do you.


Just remember, don't pry against the wood grain, it will chip if you do.

where did you get your shift handle??? i have a 97 lsc and it is leather. will they switch out? that looks sharp.

i broke mine. lol

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of... it already has a couple chips in it... don't have a clue how they coulda occured since the previous owner was like 80... but yeah... I know wood is extremely brittle... thanks the help... and yeah that shift knob is pretty clean...

I was actually thinking of fixing and sanding the bezel down and maybe painting it... but i don't know... hate when it looks tacky afterward... and a couple chips are livable..

It's not mine, this was a post on a tech article from another site, that is a Collectors Edition Shifter. They're very hard to come by and expensive when you do. The wood trim is not actually wood, it's basically plastic, but it has a coating that is easy to chip.
