jaceqq March 17th, 2008, 08:14 PM Seen an ad in a local classafied paper for a 93 mark Viii.Seemed to be one of those to good to be trure kind of deals. Long story short for my $1,300 bucks I got an 93 MarkViii green ext,tan leather, sunroof, key (number) pad.Seems to be loaded with just 80k miles.
It has a broken drivers side door handle, of course the climate control buttons are trashed, drivers seat shows alot of wear, console latch is broke and the radio head unit is missing. (factory wire and plugs still intact). Most issues are just cosmetic and easy fixes.Car runs really well, lots of power and tranny shifts perfect.
My first questions are, what years radio head unit and climate control will work in a 93 mark viii. (oh the radio has the cd changer in trunk still intact)
My next questions is Whats my best suspension solution? The front leaks down when it's parked but pumps right back up when you turn the key on.
I'd like to put something under it and forget about it.So the coil spring kit seems best option to me but I'm new to the mark Viii game. Ideas?
I've seen kits on ebay (swapping front and rear) for about $440.Is this a fair price? Or is there a better place to buy?
Speed Demon March 17th, 2008, 08:30 PM American air is the best choice for conversions, Eddie is terrific. Somebody post a link please...:D

I would put in an aftermarket headunit. Climate control get the hard button from a 95-96. Good luck with the car sounds like you got a good deal.
94BLU8 March 17th, 2008, 08:43 PM post a picture of the gold mine please so us fellow mark 8 owners and check it out
nolimit94VIII March 17th, 2008, 08:51 PM I agree with all of the above, especially with the suspension parts if you convert it over.
As for the stereo, jerk that junk out of there and put in your own head unit, door speakers 5 X 7, 6 X 8 and amps because when you actually see one of the speakers that comes out of the door or rear, you'll see why. Might be JBL but it's like JBL from the dollar store IMO.
The EATC unit can be changed out to the larger button style. Mine is a 94 and the model number that worked for mine is shown below. Shoot for the one that says grey on the sticker and you should be fine. Other colors don't always work. I have tested a few different colors in mine and the grey one was the one that worked.

This is a pic before I changed out head units again about a month ago.

Good luck with it!
jaceqq March 17th, 2008, 08:56 PM It's dark out now. I'll try to get a pic up tomarrow after work.Although I wont get any sleep tonight. I've wanted a mark8 for years. Oh happy day!! Shes in the dtiveway getting to know her new family. A few 92 f150 Nite editions,2000 v6 stang,2003 mach1. Might even have to dust of the ole 70 mach1 hidding in the garage and introduce them this week-end ;P
jaceqq March 17th, 2008, 09:07 PM I checked out the link and think thats what I'm looking for.I like the look of the 1-1/2 drop. Is there any issues with bottoming out or tire clearance issues with stock sized tires with the drop kit?
Thanks for the help so far! Keep the ideas comming. Jace
21stcenturygadgetguy March 17th, 2008, 09:22 PM Hey welcome jaceqq! I hope you enjoy your Mark as much as we do! I agree totally w/all said above; got a replacement Pioneer deck in mine, but kept the JBL Audio and Amp in mine, liked the sound, and didnt wanna scrap all the stereo at once. I did the hard button one Climate Control, watch ebay, I got mine for $55 shipped. The suspension from Eddie is a good choice, I did get mine from somewhere else, but the Mechanic put it in at a great price, so what the hey :---)
Post Pics!! and welcome!!
Chris
k9t8m March 17th, 2008, 09:27 PM Sounds like a real good price. Nice snag. Anxiously awaiting pics.
jaceqq March 17th, 2008, 09:29 PM Thanks for the welcome Chris. I've been looking for one on and off for years. When I ran across a nice Mark8 I didn't have the cash. When I had cash all I found was trash. lol I guess the stars were inline for me today.
Green paint and tan interior isn't my first choice of colors by a long shot but man I just couldn't pass it up! I get some pics up soon! Jace
Kbob March 17th, 2008, 10:35 PM Sounds like you got a great deal. And unless you're an experienced mechanic/auto body guy, I'd recommend taking the car to the shop to fix the door handle. Replacing mine was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Good luck!
buddylee March 18th, 2008, 01:07 AM I've seen kits on ebay (swapping front and rear) for about $440.Is this a fair price? Or is there a better place to buy?
I just did a coil kit from struts-r-us >------------------------------->
shipped to me for $450 and the customer was so happy
jaceqq March 18th, 2008, 05:49 AM Kbob, Thanks for the heads up on the handle. After I get a new handle I'll give it a shot of installing it.I'm pretty mech, inclined so we'll just have to wait and see if I can go 10 rounds with it. lol .If I get knocked out in the second round I'll take it down the street to the shop.
Oh Miss Jace took it for a spin last. She was pretty impressed.Think that means alot since she drives a 2003 Mach1 for her daily driver. Yeah she's spoiled rotton!;P.

AbrahamLincoln March 20th, 2008, 06:10 PM I checked out the link and think thats what I'm looking for.I like the look of the 1-1/2 drop. Is there any issues with bottoming out or tire clearance issues with stock sized tires with the drop kit?

my car has this done, and no it only rubs when i hit a pretty hard dip. other than that, you better be very careful with it... you cant drive it like a "normal car" its a pain in the *** sometimes - i cant even go into some parking lots because of the dips - bottom out does suck.
but to me the handling abilities make it worth it. heres mine with the drop. -

AbrahamLincoln March 20th, 2008, 06:12 PM i imagine ride a bit better with bigger wheels, so im all about that this season :-) my boys keep telling me gold daytons... i dunno, anyone done this? lol (im more of a deep dish guy)
k9t8m March 20th, 2008, 07:37 PM Your ride quality will go out the window with bigger wheels. Bigger wheels=smaller tire. Your handeling will most definately improve, but not ride quality.
But what am i saying? I love my 18's.
jaceqq March 20th, 2008, 09:16 PM Abe, Your Mark looks great with that drop! Thanks for posting pics of your car. I think thet seal the the deal for the 1 1/2 drop spring for me when I* order a kit. Jace
GMAN March 20th, 2008, 11:23 PM I have standard height springs that I harvested from a wrecked 94 Mark. $275 shipped.
The Rev March 20th, 2008, 11:27 PM i imagine ride a bit better with bigger wheels, so im all about that this season :-) my boys keep telling me gold daytons... i dunno, anyone done this? lol (im more of a deep dish guy)
Someone is going to HAVE to photoshop The Game standing in front of a Mark VIII on fastbags and gold daytons hahaha
jaceqq March 21st, 2008, 06:23 AM Okay one more question. Is there any alignment problems after swapping in the springs for the air bags? Can lets just say Sears just put it up on the rack and line it up okay? Just want all the info before I take the plunge. Jace
JDS353 April 10th, 2008, 05:57 PM jace when we did the 95 change over had a lot of problems had to drive it up on 2x4's to get a floor jack to work so be fore warned. love the handling and ride. mike and i put a lot of miles on it before he sold it. jd 94m5 dad.
