About a month and a half ago, my 98 (my most prized possession) was backed into by a truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The only place it hit me was the driver's door. It put a really big dent in the door where the handle is and it also shattered the window. The other guy's ins. company agreed to pay for a new door painted and tinted to match the car.
I took this opportunity to get a complete paint job, as the body shop quoted me at $1650 for my cost. The rest would be charged to the insurance company. Tell me what you guys think, but I'm pretty sure that's an awesome deal, considering every other place I had checked before the accident wanted to charge me $3k or more. I just couldn't pass this up.
I should be getting the car back on Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll post some pics of it when I get it.

DITTO! The more they remove the better the job will look. If an LSC model the grill, headlight trim and tail light should be painted off the car.

Price is not too bad, they are prob billing all the paint costs to the other insurance company. They also dont have to "blend" the paint to match the 1/4 or fender so they can transfer some of that labor an material savings to you as well.

Yeah, the body shop guy told me beforehand that they would be removing the lights and bumpers and stuff. I don't think they'll be removing the windows though. I stopped by the shop today and they had already sanded down the whole car. They were still in the process of blocking it when I showed up today. I've been going in to see their progress almost every day since they started. It's pretty cool to see it in the various stages of work. Last Friday when I showed up, they had just started sanding the old paint and were marking every little tiny imperfection with a piece of tape so that they could go back to them later and fix them all. I was amazed at how many little spots there was, especially since my paint really didn't look to be in that bad of shape. There was a small spot on the trunk that was starting to show some clear coat peeling, there was a bunch of paint chips on the front end and the bumpers had lost a lot of their shine. It still looked rather stunning, but it just didn't look as good as I wanted it to. :rolleyes:

That's a great price, what shop did you use? I've used Protek in N. Chas and I didn't really like the end result :( Btw I was talking to a dude downtown about LVC, he had stopped me about the cobrastars and was curious. I told him all about LVC and all that Jazz he has a 96 Mark VIII so if we get a few more peeps locally we should have a meet up and all chill.

I don't know much about him anymore, but the work he did back in the late 90's early 00's was top notch. If anyone else wants to check it out (and I can't remember the name to save my life) head out of west ash on 17, after you pass john shields automotive (the biggest thief car dealer in the world) its about 1/8th mile down on the right. Blue roof on the building last time I was in town

The place I went to is called Summerville Collision Center. It's on 78, a little bit north of 17-A. That's cool that you're spreading the LVC word out there Napoleon, I always want to stop and talk to other Mark owners, but never get the chance. It never works out.

I almost stopped and talked to a guy in a Mark VIII today, but I was in my wife's truck, not either of the Marks, so I didn't want to seem like a weirdo. I've seen him a few times on base recently, so I'm pretty sure I'll see him again soon. It was a dirty black Gen I with major clear coat issues.

Track him down and drop off an LVC thing on his windshield and some coupons to the car wash I'm sure he'd appreciate it :D

How's 25 too young? I think it's pretty common for Navy guys to get married pretty young. Almost everyone I work with is married. :)

Can't say I've heard of them. I was a poor teenager back then with no money for beer and cigarettes much less custom car work. Thats back when I'd port and polish my own stuff cause I couldn't afford the nice stuff. At that time, $150 worth of exhaust work was a HUGE stretch for me. On a side note, I have some friends who live off of dorchester out towards summerville, exit 199 on 26 if I recall correctly then about 5 miles or so. Makes me wish I'd have laid off the bong and cases of bud light back in the day so I still had a memory now.

Well, being 21 myself I just can't imagine myself being married at 25 :D but hey things change right?

yeah, they sure do, I felt the same way at 21--got married at 22.
