ok.. its out of place but i get no help in the eldo forum..

plus it seems like a general question..

my girl has a 92 eldo... her driver door wont lock with the keyfob.. passenger door does.. but you can still manually lock the driver door ..

but both will unlock with the keyfob..

plus her car radio will not turn off when she opens the driver door.. but will when you open the passenger door..or hit the lock on the keyfob even though it doesnt lock the door..

and it used to chime when she turned off the engine as if the door was open... when it was closed..and the floor lights would stay on ( which i pulled the fuse to or the car battery would die by morning)

it has recently stopped that..(i did spray an obnoxious amount of wd-40 into the latch a while back )

could this be the driver side latch??.. or a short somewhere???

im pretty sure the door ajar switch is built into the latch...

i just dont want to replace the latch and not fix the problem..

Sounds like you on the right track.
I would guess the switch too because it seems like it cant tell the door is closed.
Junkyard close ?
Can you switch from drivers to passenger and see if the problem follows the switch/latch ?

yeah.. it seems the car cant tell when the driver door is opened or closed.. ive searched a few local yards and havent seen a drivers side latch. usually the doors are completely missing..

the latch isnt expensive,,, 75.00 from cadillac and 55.00 online at a oem replacement site...

i just dont want to waste my time and money if its something else
