big problem with 1-2 accumulater upgrade

hey guys, today I did the 1-2 accumulater upgrade but now its shifting like crap. I followed the instructions to a T. I drained all the fluid from the torqe converter, and let set on flat ground to finish draining for 30 min before plugging the hole. I put exactly 10 quarts of mercon 5 and cycled through the gears a few time before I test drove it. It drove fine but felt like it was a little low. When I got back I checked the fluid it was about 1/2 quart low, I added a 1/2 quart. Drove it for about 20 miles and all of a sudden it started shifting like crap. Hard shifts, prolonged shifts, when I romp on the gas it won't downshift at all, very sluggish. Checked the fluid again but its full. Any HELP Please. I'm all out of ideas. I know how it would act if it was too low on fluid but how would it be if it was too full?

Trans holds 12.3 qts. Sounds like your still 1.5 qt low.

I now have exactly 12 quarts of fluid but nothing has changed. Still shifts terrible.

All was fine before upgrade? Springs reversed? Piston installed correct? Pulled plastic filter grommet from hole? Filter fully seated? New filter? Did you maybe knock a wire loose on the valve body? I know ,stupid questions, but gotta ask.

all was good before upgrade other shifting hard 1-2. Yes, installed new filter with upper blue spring, piston, lower purple spring, new seal.

How many miles on it? Have you ever replaced the MLPS (neutral safety switch)? Did you clean/wipe down the valve body?

I never messed with the valve body at all. If I popped the pan off and took a second look, about how much fluid would I have add to refill it back? I think I might have put the seal in upside down! Maybe a stupid question but would that make a difference?

Just re-use what drains out. Should be 3-4 qts. Check for broken wires. Also, check the 2 shift solenoids. They are the 2 square little boxes with "buttons" in the centers. I am pretty sure you should be able to push the "buttons" in. Maybe one is stuck? I've read somewhere that guys have cleaned them. Can't find the post though.

Sounds like a faulty MLPS. Most of the trouble routines in the manual point to it. Does yours have a red gasket? New style has a red gasket. No gasket on the factory 93 MLPS so they leak water and shorts it out.

Actually I haven't even looked at my MLPS. Would it all of a sudden go bad today? I'm gonna check the fluid level in morning. Now if I have the correct amount of fluid, if its cold, it should be on the full mark on the cold side of the dipstick? I believe I might have put the seal in upside down. Would it make a difference?

MLPS is funky like that. Seal probably would make a difference, not sure it will install upside down.
