The mouthwatering new Cadillac CTS-V (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/detroit-2008-2009-cadillac-cts-v-revealed-with-550-hp/) is an absolute celebrity in the American automotive industry. But while we got an eyeful of the supercharged super-sedan at its unveiling in Detroit (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-cadillac-cts-v-unveiling-w-live-shots/), as any Hollywood buff could tell you, it's one thing to see a celebrity on stage and quite another to meet one out in the real world. That's the experience some lucky fans got when the new CTS-V rolled by what appears to be a Corvette gathering in Florida. It would appear to be an appropriate assembly to show off the super-Caddy, powered as it is by a 550-hp derivative of the supercharged V8 (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/15/detroit-2008-chevrolet-ls9-cutaway-display/) in the new Corvette ZR1 (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/15/detroit-2008-up-close-with-the-corvette-zr1/).
As you can see from the pictures in the gallery, this CTS-V was wearing glossy black V-shaped, split-5-spoke Cadillac rims, a beautiful metallic silver paint job, Michigan plates and, oddly, some camouflage over the rear bumper. Why GM felt the need to hide the rear end of a car already released is beyond us. Thanks to Lau for the tip on the images posted by CTS Dude on behalf of pat_ernzen.

looks nice. I'm a Lincoln LS owner but a big fan of the CTS-V. I really like the bulge in the hood

GM is doing everything right. 12.5 or slightly lower quarter mile car right there!

Man, I wish I had money sitting around for something like this car.

It's a bargain compared to the Germans. ONLY $60,000 +/-

I can not wait for it to hit showrooms

Car and Driver just tested the new CTS-V and my numbers were pretty much right on the money. The car ran a 12.4 in the quarter and the top speed (not in the quarter mile) is 180 mph!

If your referring to the March 08 issue, Car and Driver did not test the car yet. They only photgraphed it. They say in it "Still, even though we're months away from a first drive, we can tell you the new CTS-V will have much more uptown ambience, as well as performance that'll make the first V-series seem almost ordinary."

All those numbers are factory claims. I doubt they are far off, but as far as I know no one has tested it yet.

But the specs are as follows
Engine Type: "LSA" supercharged (Eaton with 4 vane impeller pushing 9psi) and intercooled (Behr), pushrod 16-valve V-8, aluminum block and heads, port fuel injection.
550bhp@6200rpm 550 lb-ft@4000rpm
You will be able to get a 6 speed Tremec 6060 manual (same in the Vette ZR1 and Viper ACR) or a GM 6L90 Hydra-Matic automatic trans with paddles.
0-60 in 4.1 and the 1/4 at 12.4
12mpg city 19hwy

Found it interesting that this is the first "LS" designated engine created for a car outside of the Corvette lineup.

My friend must of read incorrectly, cause he told me the info. Guess he had selective reading...lol But either way, that car is going to be bad a$$!

Yeah I can not wait. I think it said second half of 08 it'll be available. I can't wait to see some good american luxo-muscle on the road. The interior of it looks beautiful. The CTS itself is already an awesome car, then throw in some more bells and whistles and a 550hp with a 6 speed....can't go wrong!

I can not agree with you more. Also, the ZR1's PSI is around 15lbs. The CTS-V is only a pulley and tune away from getting into the 11's w/o any trouble at all.

Just wait until Lingenfelter and all those tuner shops get a hold of them.

This is from Wikipedia .. "The supercharged 6.2 L LSA is similar to the LS9 and scheduled to debut in the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V. Producing an estimated 550 hp (410 kW) of power and 550 ft·lbf (745 N·m) of torque, the LSA features a smaller 1.9 L capacity supercharger rather than the 2.3 L variant of the LS9. Other differences include a slightly lower 9.0:1 compression ratio, single unit heat exchanger and cast pistons."

So you could be absolutely right.

I also read that the new 08 C6 Vette is running 12.4's now too. GM beefed it up to 430HP, so very sad that rustangs will always be slower than the vette.

That and the new Z07 will most likely tear apart a Ford GT. Gotta love those LS engines.

I thought the new ZR1 was going to replace the Z0's? Interesting, guess I must of missed that one...haha!

Yeah it is I think, but I still call it the Z07. Still used to calling it that I guess, but you are right.
