LINCBRA January 17th, 2008, 11:15 AM After clearing off my car this morning from the wonderful snow storm and carefully getting my door unfrozen from my car, I tryed to close my door and it bounced back at me. So after many minutes of frustration and slamming the door I noticed that the latch was frozen(the place that you would sprary WD - 40 if door ajar problem is present). So I found my moms hair dryer and pulled my Mark 8 into the garage and unfroze the latch and I was on my way....
I was wondering if this happens to anyone else? It's so damn annoying especially at 8 am.
unity January 17th, 2008, 11:19 AM Well that sorta happened to me once, but it was not the latch although it sure looked like it.
Turned out that just a LITTLE snow got stuck up against the rocker panel, between the door. It created just enough of a shim that the door would not close right. I had even sprayed the latch with WD-40 thinking it was it, til I saw the snow.

Yeah I had that happen to me a couple weeks ago, my door shut but didn't latch and i didn't notice it until I remote started the car. The vibration of the engine and the down hill slope caused the door to swing open, which tiggered my aftermarket alarm to go off. I couldn't figure it out either, then i realize the latch wasn't closing, so after a few hard raps on the latch mechanism with the palm of my hand, it started working again. I then went home and sprayed with silicone lube. Hasn't happened since.
Staffamerica74 January 17th, 2008, 03:48 PM This happens to mine everytime it gets cold, I keep vice grips in the car because you can undo it by just pulling up on the lock.

Since the beginning of the snow season we've had between 35 to 45 inches of snow. Today was only 12".

It was because we got rain first. Made it's way into latch and froze overnight.
brentalan January 17th, 2008, 05:34 PM Keep it sprayed with WD40 to keep moisture off. then it can't freeze
Moes8 January 18th, 2008, 06:27 PM i had this happen right after i got my mark on the road 2 years ago,i spent 25 minutes freezing my arse off cleaning the snow off .then start it (6am) and find out the door wont close,i spend another 10 minutes trying to fix door, then finally decide it must have broke,
so i then clean off my other car(another 20+ minutes freezing)go to work, come home and since it warmed up during the day i find that the door closes fine,
man was i upset, but glad to find out i just need to silicone the latch like crazy when winter starts.
i never had a car that did this before.
Markviiiedrea January 18th, 2008, 06:45 PM what do you think WD40 is, WD-40—which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try, another one of those nasa things like velcro!
