2000 KKM vs K&N intake

new poster, i've been long time reading in the shadows on the site, purchased my 2000 Lincoln LS V8 in August with 68,000 miles... but now onto the topic at hand..
its seems like the K&N vs KKM debate is fully fully fully covered for the Gen II LS, but I've been hunting for a new intake for my Gen I
(And i just spoke with LSkoncepts tech support - the heat shield is due mid february..)
and I was thinking that I was set with the polished aluminum tube and KKM, but then I came across this:
http://www.autospeedstore.com/content.asp?CustComKey=157941&CategoryKey=157988&pn=Products4&DomName=autospeedstore.com
has anyone heard of this? or tried it? it looks pretty much the same as the KKM but with a K&N filter rather than the KKM, which while I have read of the high quality of LSKoncepts stuff, K&N is kinda a big name that's been around for a long time.
any thoughts on this intake vs the KKM?

This is just my opinion from years of using K&N filters on everything from Dirt Bikes to a Webber Carbed GT 350. I have the KKM filter on my 04 and K&N on my 87 BMW M6. There is no apparent difference in the quality of the respective filters. For years, K&N was the only gauze filter manufacturer, a couple of years back several other manufacturers entered the field. I am guessing that K&N's patent expired, but that is only my guess. K&N's years of manufacture are reflected on the range of filters available. Most of the newer companies are limited in the number of designs and sizes available.

cuz to save a few bucks i might snag the intake tube at lskoncepts and the k&n intake at this site..
but mostly i'm interested in most bang. next big purchase after this will be the SCT flash, but thats for when i'm a little more financially stable (just moved, post holidays, car/student loans, etc..)
maybe i'll give this one a try.. be all avante-garde..

i guess the only difference is S&B Powerstack Filter vs K&N Filter..

ASMI is where we buy the polished aluminum intake tubes from. We don't buy the K&N units simply because Kurtz Kustom Motorsports (KKM) is our main supplier for Gen 1 intake kits. The price is about the same on our website as is on ASMI's site if you get the tube and filter kit. Also, if you buy both items we can give you another 5% off if you call in the order.

Biggest difference is that the S&B filter is a little bit bigger and it has an open top filter to allow for more air intake surface. The K&N filter doesn't have the open top like the S&B filter. Just FYI.

thats a salesman baby lol
j/k odds are i'd end up with you guys anyway because of the impending heat shield and a K&N fouled up two previous MAFs... although i bought the car used and it already had the K&N in it before I bought it and shmucky the kid who owned the car before me prolly over oiled it.. but that's neither here nor there..
what would the final price be on a package dealy? (with ship est. if ya got em)

Well, not really a salesman other than offering the 5% discount. I was, however, trying to at least let you know the difference in the two kits.

FWIW, I used the LSK package to set two Land Speed Records this past summer. I'm building a new engine this winter and will continue to use the LSK intake with the new engine.

Sounds like your guess about the shmuck is right on... I wouldn't blame K&N
