GoldCoastLs December 19th, 2004, 10:49 AM I have recently painted the factory wood plastic to a color changing paint... tell me what you all think, also i have put in a mesh grill in the bumper, and painted the calipers red......Let me know what you all think.
SurfjaxLS December 19th, 2004, 11:51 AM I like the paint on the dash components, but not completely sure what to think of the grill.
GrayGhost1 December 19th, 2004, 12:10 PM Nice interior components. You got them installed yet? If so, snap some pics of it.
Joeychgo December 19th, 2004, 12:20 PM Looking Good!
MonsterMark December 19th, 2004, 05:05 PM I like the grill alot. The calipers...so,so on the whole red thing but everybody does it so I approve. The dash. Lets see it installed. I like the initiative though so I hopes it works out to your satisfaction.
GoldCoastLs December 19th, 2004, 05:08 PM I just installed the painted parts,(uuggg) the climate control was a real pain to put back together, but i got it...here are some pics, right now im working on the wood colored plastic on the doors.

I really do not know a polite way to say this, so I will just say it.
You really must take the "LINCOLN" off of the Passanger side dash. It looks very tacky and immature.
I am not trying to disrespect your hard work, I applaud you for making the huge effort to do this. Unfortunately (this is just my opinion) I would not have done this to my car if I wanted to be taken seriously.
greatXpectations December 20th, 2004, 01:35 AM Not into the color, or the lincoln decal, but the paint work looks excellent! grill looks great! just my two bits!
Live your life, because you never get out alive in the end.
VTOgre December 20th, 2004, 08:14 AM I like the fact that you are doing something totally different. The color is a little odd at first, but overall I like it. I have to agree on the Lincoln thing though, it doesn't match at all. If you really want to have that say Lincoln, look into an old Navigator Interior. Supposedly the y have a piece that fits in the LS right there above the glove box. Then you could just paint that. I know I've seen someone on cardomain.com with it. Maybe this is where you got the idea.
GoldCoastLs December 20th, 2004, 12:30 PM Hey thanks for your input everybody, the LINCOLN lettering in the dash matchs the paint on the body, but the more i look at it the more i want to sand it off and start over. I really appreciate the responses though. the paint i used looks much better in person, its more of a metallic charcoal...like the color of greyghost's car, but the flash from the camera gives it that purple tint.

Yeah, the pieces up top look more charcoalish than the installed pics. The flash can do crazy things to paint. I think if you re-do the Lincoln thing you have a winner!
nealwku98ta December 21st, 2004, 04:09 PM looks......rainbowish..... :wave
ONEBADMK8 December 21st, 2004, 04:42 PM Love it all, except for that decal!
kudisbetta December 21st, 2004, 04:54 PM I like the exterior man. You got a sweet LS. Interesting effect with the custom dash. Not my style but if you like it then its all good.
Seems like a flawless job. Keep the ideas coming!
pal_bonds December 21st, 2004, 05:11 PM How did you remove the black plate with the gears. I'm trying to replace my shifter bulb but I'm unable to remove the black plate?
Cool custom affect, I'm looking to do something of sort but in another color. I'm thinking of using a pearl paint.
GoldCoastLs December 22nd, 2004, 01:28 AM The shift knob takes a little caressing to get off, i used a plastic screwdriver to pry the chrome ring between the leather on the shift knob and the plastic bottom. just gently pry the ring down, and the tapered peice of plastic just slides down, then remove the two screws and pull up on the leather part of the shift knob, it takes quite a bit of pulling, and wiggling. then to remove the plastic shift plate.... at the back of the center console, there is a piece of plstic with some air vents, just pull straight out to pop that off, then just pull up on the back of the center console, and it pops right off, un-hook your wiring harness for the traction control, and then just pop off the plastic plate. the white part is attached to the black, so dont try to pry those apart, it is one unit. The real tough part of this project was the radio and climate control moduale....if anybody else does this BE CAREFUL WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL FACE PLATE.
pal_bonds December 22nd, 2004, 04:45 PM I was trying to remove the black plate from the white plastic piece.
I don't think I'll have problems with my radio module plate simply because I've installed an aftermarket clarion head unit. As for the climate module, that's a whole different story. Was the problem taking is out or putting it back in...

GoldCoastLs December 23rd, 2004, 05:49 PM For you bulb in the shifter, they are on the right side if you are sitting in the car, just turn and pull, they come right out. And the climate control face plate was a pain to remove because it has little clips on each button you have to undo to get the face plate off.

Removal of the hidious LINCOLN in my dash...
Sorry no pics, camera battery is dead for now, but ill post them soon...
LS_Monk March 19th, 2009, 10:21 AM I want to paint my climate control surround satin nickel but how the hell do you get the buttons out like that?
SPSully March 19th, 2009, 10:24 AM way to bring back the dead! LMAO
NYC LS8 March 19th, 2009, 10:29 AM At least he searched!
SPSully March 19th, 2009, 10:32 AM true dat!
pektel March 19th, 2009, 10:55 AM He hasn't been on since 05.
On another note, there are small hex screws holding the faceplates on. I can't remember how the buttons were held in though.

pektel March 19th, 2009, 11:02 AM pfm? pretty f*cking much? pu**y f*cking magnet?
NYC LS8 March 19th, 2009, 11:03 AM Pretty f*ckable mom?
SPSully March 19th, 2009, 11:04 AM pure fvcking magic!
LS_Monk March 19th, 2009, 12:15 PM Took me an hour to find it the first time and another hour to find it again to post my question because wasn't smart enought the first time. LOTS OF USING THE SEARCH
Anyways I figured it out. Just might have to fabricate a little tool to get them off. Hopefully have it all done apart tonight. The long toggle ones (for the heat up and down and the fan speed) are super easy to remove. I have a spare control that was broken that I saved the face plate from for this very reason. I broke 2 off already but there is lots more. lol Once I can can do it with out breaking them I will take the good one apart.

"Pedofile Found Me?"
JWerner2 March 19th, 2009, 12:30 PM That really looks stupid, even that bumper grille:confused: .
My wife brought home tons of finger nail polish like that from work to toss in our dumpster of our old apartment. It sat in her store for so long cause no one wanted to buy it it was no longer in the system so it was trash.
PetesSweets86 March 19th, 2009, 12:37 PM Haha that's funny :q:q:q:q...maybe that's where he got the idea?
freedom9ner March 19th, 2009, 12:59 PM So what's the trick to remove the other buttons? I was investigating doing the same thing. My HVAC faceplate is scratched up.
xxdjdinot1989xx March 19th, 2009, 01:33 PM the paint color looks ok...but just doesn't really match the rest of the cars interior color..that's just me..
LS_Monk March 20th, 2009, 08:56 AM Well I painted the door behind the door handle yestarday to see what it is going to look like. I am going to drive it a around for a little bit to see how I like it. Before I paint everything else to match or go back to black. (heater vent above radio, radio faceplate, and climate control face plate)
I am going for the 2003 oem look NOT custom painted interior look.
LS_Monk March 23rd, 2009, 12:39 PM all done I ended up doing the shifter area also just because it had some scratches before. Took me about 5 hours to do it all. They only thing I never took apart was the climate control area. I just removed 2 buttons and the little lights above the buttons and masked the rest. Let me know if you think it looks the same as the 03-06.
pektel March 23rd, 2009, 01:52 PM Yep looks good! For some reason when I saw the door handles, they looked like the exterior color.
tonyd March 23rd, 2009, 07:34 PM looks real nice, i think you shoud have painted out the wood grain on the bottom by the heated seat/ash tray. That's what i hate the most on my car. I'll post when i'm done. I'll post when i'm done. it might actualy look worse.
NYC LS8 March 23rd, 2009, 07:36 PM I agree with tonyd. You should finish that off to have it mimic the 03+ cars.
HyeLifeLS March 23rd, 2009, 08:34 PM Interior pieces look sweet, kind of like cf. bumper grill needs to go.
