Stupid Question

How do I know if I have HID's? I have an 04 ls v8. The lights dont look as "blue" as those on other luxury cars. Do I still have HID but at a lower color temperature, or do I have halogens?

They're only blue when they first start up, then they turn more white.

The HID lights get noticeably brighter over the first couple of seconds of operation.

is there such a thing as halogens on an 04 ls. my lights look nothing like an audi, mercedes, bmw, etc.

Mine don't look them, either. Just a different temperature light.

So an HID kit is not necessary? I could just change the bulbs?

Yup. '03 started the HIDs.

If you have HID's, there will be a yellow tag on each light assembly saying DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE. You can see it when you open the hood and look at the headlight assemblies. That's the giveaway to tell if you have HIDs or not.

Keep in mind, the OEM HID setup from Lincoln only included HID lamps on the low beams. The high beams are conventional halogen bulbs for all models.

If you have HID's already, you can swap your high beam bulbs and foglight bulbs to a bulb that puts out whiter light. This is what I did on my 2006 LS, and it made all the bulbs look uniform in color. I used the Hoen bulbs from LSKoncepts.

If you do not have HID's, you can do the same, but also swap the lowbeams for the appropriate Hoen bulb.

Check the LSKoncepts website, or ask Ken Garrison for the appropriate bulbs. You won't be disappointed!

This is the sticker to look for. If you have this, you have HID's.

i dont seem to have that sticker. there is a round domed cover over the rear of the headlight assembly with the letters "HID" on it but from what I hear its not HID. sorry im still very confused.
