Kevin O'Connell December 11th, 2007, 02:49 PM Anyone ever done any kind of racing stripes- like the old Cobra stripes on MK VIII's? If so, can you post pics so we can see what they look like?
How about any other graphics ideas- no junk stick on flames, just quality paint stuff.
Any one know sources of Lincoln racing emblems, stickers, graphics, etc for bench racing, sales at car shows or the like?
Other than Geno, is anybody got a pro racing team running Lincolns?:
mespock December 11th, 2007, 03:33 PM Hell No... Not into Rice $hit...
poniesviii December 11th, 2007, 04:09 PM There's a guy that did a nice two tone job at least 5 years ago, down the sides., divided just above the door handles. If I remember right it was silver/burgundy.
Racing stripes on these cars would be.... uh. .. .
96mark8 December 11th, 2007, 05:40 PM i think it would look cool to maybe. i would also like to see some pics. or a photo shop
mespock December 11th, 2007, 08:24 PM Please Please no!!! No Stripes... Let the car have some class...
ONEBADMK8 December 11th, 2007, 09:59 PM Heres a customers car from about 5-6 years ago.
whiplash15 December 11th, 2007, 10:29 PM HEY! That looks ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, from the side...........
devilchild December 11th, 2007, 11:12 PM im thinking of doing a big ole' "01" on my doors and a confederate flag on the roof....
ok .. maybe not.. but it would still look better than stripes
Scorpio1118_2000 December 11th, 2007, 11:33 PM Stripes are best left to the the t-bird guys, 2 tone would be nice but not much else. Most luxury cars will not have stripes but there is one guy that had a pretty wild paintjob on this site, do a search on it. He was thinking about selling it as is, and we told him to repaint it first.
mespock December 12th, 2007, 07:19 AM HEY! That looks ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, from the side...........
I'd have to agree... Those stripes just don't work.. Geno good pic to show why not to stripe a Mark VIII..... Do we have to post the Yellow Mark VIII again to show Modification go Bad...
JoeyLincolnMK8 December 12th, 2007, 08:03 AM please do not mention that hideous mark viii ever again...lol
ONEBADMK8 December 12th, 2007, 10:17 AM Please don't mention stripes or that frekin' yellow "thing" again!! LMAO!
mespock December 12th, 2007, 10:59 AM Well you know.... there are cars you can strip and rice out and then there are cars that need to be respected...like the Mark VIII.
I'm not saying that people should bow down to the Mark VIII just saying that it's a disgrace to the Mark VIII to put flash on it .. in my opinion the stripes take away from the Mark VIII's respect and lowers it and the driver to the realm of what ricers do.
The Mark VIII isn't a fast car but can be made into a respectable car with work. Why shouw somone do the same thing to the Mark VIII that Ricers do when they bling the hell out of the car and make it look like it should be on the track sitting in the winner's circle when it can't. (granted there are nice foreign cars that can be easily modded to scream down the track, but they too need work not stickers or a stripe).
To me the Mark VIII is a 90's attempt on American Muscle in a Luxury car, not that it compares to those of the 60's or early 70's but... it's much more than many options from the 80's and 90's... The Mark VIII should not fit in the realm of those stupid 90's Dodge Avengers that I see so often with stripes an appeal to the HS and Ricer crowd...
bbrase December 12th, 2007, 11:57 AM Please don't mention stripes or that frekin' yellow "thing" again!! LMAO!
....LINKS! I need to see this beast.
thanks.
JoeyLincolnMK8 December 12th, 2007, 12:11 PM ....LINKS! I need to see this beast.
thanks.
Beast? It is far from a beast. hahahaa
XLRVIII December 12th, 2007, 12:11 PM most people dont realize that the cobra stripes on the mustangs weren't STRAIGHT LINES.
The only portion that was straight lines is the middle seperator stripe, the outsides of the stripes had different dimensions from the front of the hood to the back of the hood and the front of the roof to the back of the roof and from the beginning of the trunk lid to the bottom of the car.
That is why "most stripes" on cars just "dont look right".. because.. THEY AREN'T RIGHT because they are "STRAIGHT STRIPES".
Geno's mark 8 picture posted above illustrates that perfectly...those straight stripes no way resemble "cobra stripes"..other than.. they are stripes.
The outer demensions are all wrong.
96mark8 December 12th, 2007, 03:47 PM ok maybe strips is a bad idea
mespock December 12th, 2007, 06:22 PM ok maybe strips is a bad idea

isaiah3g December 13th, 2007, 07:20 AM ouch..thats one ugly car!
I did a single stripe on the hood of my car,at first it wasn't all that great but now i like it,its all in the eyes of the owner i guess.
I tried to load some pics but it said invalid post...ill try again when i get in from work today.

Kevin O'Connell December 13th, 2007, 07:57 PM OK, I give on the Krylon and Mella-Yella piece of fecal matter!
I still say that there's a right way to do this.
If you guys are flowing Ford blue in yer veins, praying to the Ford Lord, don't blaspheme about anything Ol' Henry said for fear of being struck by a big ol' ford blue bolt of lightning, and think that Lincoln is the one true faith of the Luxo- hot-rod world, then you can't tell me that GT-40's, Shelby 'stangs, Cobra's and Cougar Eliminators don't look good with stripes.
So there! Hot rods are about individuality, performance, looks, new ideas, old ideas and not building belly-button or Assh**le cars- you know.. everybody's got one. Got nothing to do with "ricer" looks.
I, for one don't want to belong to a club that thinks that only certain wheels, motor mods, paint and body mods fit within a cookie cutter mold.
The true spirit of hot-rodding is individuality and creativity. Where would we be as a group without the hump-eliminator wing or the cowl induction hood- somebody had to take a chance and make the first ones?
Enuff ranting! Back to one of my other questions- anybody know of race teams running Lincolns and if so, how do you contact them?
turborich December 13th, 2007, 11:40 PM Come on guys! I didn't put any stripes on my car, You know that I edited that pic & did a bad job too! I would NEVER put stripes on the Mark VIII & I would never claim it to feel faster because of them.
Well let's see, Now Geno has burned up eyes & I'm sure that others of you have almost thrown up. I wonder if that yellow monster was done up like that in another country? I don't know who would actually pay for a Mark VIII thats looks to be crossed with a pontiac & a locomotive. Does anyone have any info on that car?
Movie Muscle December 14th, 2007, 05:05 AM Wow..........people's tastes are sooooooooooooooo different. From this day fourth thou shalt be known to the world as "The Great Lemon"
mespock December 14th, 2007, 07:29 AM Does anyone have any info on that car?
No No No No No.. no more talk about that hidious thing.. It was done in Europe but that's where it stops... Or I'm coming to Vegas and painting stripes on your car.. LOL...
glanga December 14th, 2007, 08:23 AM It looks like BumbleBee from the Transformers haha.
MediumD December 14th, 2007, 07:27 PM I think stripes would look nice, if done right, I have some ideas in my head but can't describe them... (I don't think I would ever actually do stripes on a Mark VIII, but I think it could be done well. I agree you can't just throw some loudly colored stripes on this kind of car.
JoeyLincolnMK8 December 14th, 2007, 07:35 PM It looks like BumbleBee from the Transformers haha.
LOL I think BumbleBee would jump outta that Mark and enter a fricking Del Sol instead.:p
jamie97lsc December 14th, 2007, 10:13 PM that yellow mark isnt even worthy of having dynomite packed inside it. i hope to god that car doesnt still pollute this earth by being present on it.
Scorpio1118_2000 December 15th, 2007, 12:38 AM I was not going to mention that bastard stepdog of a car, someone should buy it from the owner and return it to its former glory. And add some good mods of course.
slickemhoundd December 15th, 2007, 12:45 AM I fear that others will kick me off the LVC website now.
speechless
papa bear December 15th, 2007, 09:35 AM I think that a all black mark would look good with semi flat black stripes or the cobra r hood done in semi flat black in the center like the boss mustangs,i might even try this next year,i was thinking about the hood having lettering with the lincoln emblem popping threw the flat black in gloss black
isaiah3g December 15th, 2007, 03:01 PM i have a single black stripe off of a Mach 1 on the hood of my car,its funny cause people look at the car and go "Oh,it's a Mach 1 Lincoln" and i say.."yes it is" :D :D if ya look a lil bit on this thread you'll see a link to my car domain page
