No traction control

Fellows, I got no traction control in my mark VIII 96. Put it on ice - one tire spins. No warning lights/blinking or messages on display. Press Trac Off button once - light comes on. Press again - goes away. Normal... Still one tire spins. Any advise where to look?
Thanks.

Traction control uses the brakes only (97&98 retard the timing a bit). And its means to help aid in traction control, not stop slip and spin, just help a bit.

Since the brakes are not a stop-all, one tire can still spin - and will.

Advice? Learn how to drive rear wheel or stay away from ice! :)

One I got a bit stuck in snow. Same problem with loosing traction. Worked it so hard it over-heated and the car killed the system for a while.

As above. If you are interested to see the system working, chock the front, jack the rear, release the parking brake and stick the car in drive. You will hear the ABS valves clicking and you will see the rear wheels stopping and starting. (I did this when i bled my brakes)
