ok..it was not your typical honk, honk, honk, etc ..it was a continous HOOOOONNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. All I did was go to my car..and *I think* hit my "unlock" button on my keychain(maybe I hit panic..but I dont think so) and all of the sudden the horn honked and WOULD NOT STOP(a continious honk that is)! I started freaking out of course(especially since it was 8 in the morning in a neighborhood). Being I am not a pro at cars..I started troubleshooting what I could do in an act of desperation. I did all the typical things like pressing every button I could on my keychain(unlock, panic, trunk, etc),manually unlocking my door with a key, opening my door with the keyless entry code, opening my trunk with my key, etc. NONE of that worked. I cranked my car..didnt work. I eventually just had to pop my hood and yank out my horn fuse. Just awhile ago I put it back in just to see if it had magically stopped working..but its still honking away.

OK..now what do I do..I called the local dealership and she didnt have a real answer, expcept "bring it in". I dont want to have to do this($$$$$$$$$$$$). I know I could just drive around without my horn fuse..but could this do damage being that whatever the problem is/was has not been corrected? Should I disconnect my batter..lose all my information..then reconnect it? would that probably correct it? IF SO..what is involved with "recalibrating" the computer, etc after disconnecting the battery. Sorry I sound like a complete moron..but I am when it comes to cars. I just want to solve this problem with spending little to no money..because not only am I a moron when it comes to cars..I am a poor moron when it comes to cars. Thanks foro any help..I know you guys know your stuff so I thought I would come here first. thanks!

First - dont go to the dealer. Thats just a financial mess waiting to happen -

Try disconnecting the battery for about an hour. If that doesnt work - find a regular mechanic. They tend to cost less then half of a dealership.

what kind of car is this? because if it's a mid to late 80's lincoln, then you can just pull the center cap off the steering wheel and disconnect the wires. I had to do that in my crown vic, and i just picked up a new cap at a junkyard for 50 cents. fixed it, no problem.
