I love my baby, but she ain't right in the head

Well, as much as I love my LS, all of these little electrical gremlins are a little annoying. I have an 04 LS8. The only things I don't like about it are that I scratched the paint, Lincoln Dealerships, and electrical problems.

Earlier in the year, a temperature sensor went out, making the AC blow nothing but heat. Luckily that was fixed in my 30K mile check. But now the ABS and Advancetrack is acting up. For a while, every once and a while the ABS and traction control lights would light up, and the message center would say "Check Advancetrack." Since it only happened rarely, I figured it was a sensor, and it hasn't been raining much this year so I just didn't bother to get it fixed. It's coming on nearly every time now, so I guess its time to get it fixed.

Since it started happening rarely and slowly started occurring more, could this just be another sensor? It'd be nice if I could just order a new part and install it myself instead of going to the lincoln dealership and paying them for labor. On the otherhand, something more major might have to be replaced.

Is there anything I can do myself to diagnose the problem besides driving all the way down to the dealership?

Same thing happened on my '03....

My master cylinder went out on my Advancetrac and it was replaced under warranty. It got to the point where the car would go into fail-safe mode before it was fixed. Quite annoying.

So you're saying I should go to the dealer to get it checked out?

Is the car under warranty still? If so, why not? I would.

i had the same problem in that BOTH the ABS and ADVANCETRAK lights came on. it turned out that my alternator was going bad...only putting out 28 amps vice the normal 110. take it in to kragen or pep boys or whatever for an alternator check...its free. just an idea. might be it.

I had a similar issue with a random Advancetrac message. It sounds kinda strange, but I read it in an old thread here and checked the brake fluid level in my car. It was low, but not low to the point that it would set off the low fluid warning. I topped it off, and the Advancetrac message hasn't come back since.

Another possibility is that your battery is dieing and isn't holding a charge properly, or your alternator isn't charging correctly.
