I have a ticking noise but it is related to the a.c. When I turn the a.c on it will begin to tick then stop for a few minnutes then start again. Turn the a.c off and no ticking.

Mine did that once. Sounded kind of like a sticky lifter. Hasn't done it since, though.

Could be your injectors, as well. I've had that happen on another car where they were pretty loud. Does the sound match the RPMs?

Well, you can use a piece of hose or long screwdriver and put one end near where you think the noise is and the handle part by your ear to try and narrow it down. It's a cheap mechanic's stethoscope. Just be careful of any pullies, belts, moving parts, etc.

If you can't find the noise that way, you can take the serpentine belt off and see if the noise goes away. If it does go away, you've got a problem with one of the pullies or accessories. Jut don't go out driving the car or running it too long without the belt.

To tell if it's an exhaust leak.
Does the noise or volume of the noise change from when the car is first started cold, compared to when it's all warmed up? The ticking exhaust leak USUALLY is more noticeable on a cold first start. It is not unusual for the ticking to stop or get very quiet from the exhaust expanding with heat. It's not common but hairline cracked exhaust manifolds have been reported.

Yeah, I have had some loud injectors too. I had Ford racing 42's that were ridiculous.
