what 9005 bulb for highbeam best matches the color of the low beam HId?

i bought silverstars and silverstar ultras, and i am dissapointed with both of them, still very yellow compared to my hid low beams.

i hate changing over to high beams and seeing the different light color.

has anyone found a good white bulb?

unfortunatly nothing will match HID, I run HID's in my low and highs in every car I have owned.

I have a gen1 with horrible lows, so I always run my highs. I want a whiter light as well, but still want to maintain ( or improve ) the brightness, any ideas? thanks.

It really depends on how much money you want to spend. You can get some bulbs that are much brighter and whiter than the stock halogen bulbs for around $30-$40. We sell the Hoen and NOKYA halogen bulbs that produce a white light in comparison to the stock bulbs. However, they are not HID bulbs. You can put an HID conversion kit in your high beams but how often do you drive with your high beams on? I have had numerous customers buy and HID kit for low, high and fog light beams but it is all what you want and how much you want to spend.

I question whether HIDs for the highbeams will last long. Hot re-strikes are bad for those things, and there will be many of those if you tend to flash people with your highbeams from time to time.

I'd stick with halogens.

HIRs work well. They are yellow, but they get pretty bright.

as usual with gen1s the inner reflective coating on my housings are shot, i plan to switch over to hid housings or buy new halogens eventually, but not for at least 6 months, i run highs exclusively, the bulbs you're talking about run for about 40 bucks and are they much of a difference from stocks? if so i'll be interested in purchasing a set in the coming weeks, link? thanks man

HIR's work well & are not yellow, They have a nice white color to them. The HID's are more purplish then actually white. No Halogen bulb will 100% match your HID's though.

FYI! I was browsing e-bay, motors, accessories, lamps lighting. I came across 9005 based HID bulbs, complete with ballasts and wires etc for less than $100 a set. And yes, thats what I'm going to try in my CE.

Yup, stay away from the HID retro-fit kits that ONLY plug into your stock harnesses, you will start a fire sooner then later, I have noticed our headlight harness wires are pretty thin and cant carry the amperage required for igniting HID bulbs. Find a kit that also connects to your battery.

Another vote for HIRs for the high beams. ;)
