NYC LS8 October 23rd, 2007, 09:00 PM Not a big enough performance aftermarket. :D RANDO CAMMANDO October 23rd, 2007, 09:03 PM Yea I double posted mikedeezy123 October 23rd, 2007, 09:04 PM Coils, window regulators, sway bar bushings, DCCV, leaky headlights. RANDO CAMMANDO October 23rd, 2007, 09:13 PM Shift solenoids eastcoastLS October 23rd, 2007, 09:15 PM Shift solenoids are you asking what they are? or just responding to your own post? DunItRight October 23rd, 2007, 09:16 PM I realy dont see that problem that offten, but whats funny that I have noticed is that every one here seems to get the same problems around the same time...lol! RANDO CAMMANDO October 23rd, 2007, 09:29 PM I have replaced everything it seems on my car, everyweek there is something new that happens, trying to see what everyone else has done LSisland October 23rd, 2007, 10:01 PM Here is what i've had to replace so far, 2000 LS 3.9 AUTO: right rear window regulator (80 bucks, did labor myself) left rear window regulator (80 bucks, did labor myself) deer ran out in front of LS at 60 MPH, $5000 and change right front wheel bearing , $500 Fuel computer data error, problem diagnosed to Fuel pump by "local mechanic". Spent 100 bucks on ebay for new fuel pump. didn't fix problem Fuel computer data error, problem diagnosed by Lincoln dealership as PCM. $180 for diagnosis, dealer wanted 771 for new pcm, but purchased pcm on ebay for $120. Lincoln dealer installed and programmed for additional $180 Engine miss, replacing spark plugs and set of 8 coils purchased on ebay for about $200.00, doing labor myself. I think there's been a couple of other minor issues, but nothing out of the ordinary. I dislike how the Check AdvanceTrac warning light comes on on -20 degree or lower temps in winter. You have to let the car warm up for about 5 minutes, then cycle the ignition and the AdvanceTrac system resets and works fine. eastcoastLS October 23rd, 2007, 10:01 PM oh yeah degas bottle seems to fail due to poor engineering. glanga October 23rd, 2007, 10:06 PM It's American It's a Ford scjmc October 23rd, 2007, 10:28 PM 1. Here are the things that I need to have done to my car, but I just wanted to have your opinion about parts to use. 1) Replace spark plugs; which ones to buy if that matters? 2) Replace coils; what exactly do I need to buy? What are the specific part names/numbers? 3) Install valve cover gasket; is LH - XW4Z-6584-BB Gasket Kit and RH - XW4Z-6584-AB Gasket Kit all that I need? 4) Replace window "controller/motor(?)" my right-rear window stopped acting as it's suppose to, so I assume that's what the problem is. Any input will be greatly appreciated, since I just started learning not only about my LS, but cars in general! '00GrayGhost November 12th, 2007, 02:42 PM Hello my fellow drivers... Any input will be greatly appreciated, since I just started learning not only about my LS, but cars in general! What size motor do you have? 1-use the oem spark plugs. 2-this is why we need the motor size. Usually you can find them on Ebay. I bought all 8 for about 20 bucks more than the dealer wanted for 1! 3-make sure the gaskets kit has the "O" rings for the plugs with it. 4-it's called a window regulator on Ebay for a decent price. I think they're on Ebay for about 60 bucks. And 5- do a search for info and read the tech articles. There are several people on here to know a great deal about the LS. QuikLS, ILLS, NYCLSC, GrayGhost1, just to name a few. Hope you enjoy your new (and expensive) toy and welcome to the forum. NYC LS8 November 12th, 2007, 05:29 PM Appreciate the mention, but I'm still a rookie with the LS. I basically just get in and drive it. I understand the NGK Iridium IX are the best. Bought eight today. Lincolnls02black November 14th, 2007, 10:28 AM this is an easy one for me! the others know what im going to say... ;) Groupe Gabriel Ford in montreal, canada. stay away, stay away! lol alright now i feel better.. :) abes December 9th, 2007, 02:07 AM "Replace spark plugs; which ones to buy if that matters?" I understand the NGK Iridium IX are the best. Bought eight today. I just got 8 BOSCH PLATINUM FUSION plugs and replaced them myself. The engine sounded nice for around 30km and then all the misfiring came back again. I didnt replace the coils - I cleaned them in the process though and thats why I think it actually didnt misfire for those 30km. So... Im back to square on after 6h labour and new spark plugs. I guess it's the time to buy the gasket kits... i found here that I need to buy XW4Z-6584-BB and XW4Z-6584-AB, but I can't find them anywhere online. Also, which coils should I buy specifically? It's a 2000 V8 btw. Thanks a lot! abes December 9th, 2007, 03:10 AM What do you think about these coils? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-LOT-8-OEM-Ignition-Coil-on-Plug-DG515-Lincoln-LS_W0QQitemZ160171931017QQihZ006QQcategoryZ33689QQ rdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Thanks! eastcoastLS December 9th, 2007, 08:06 AM What do you think about these coils? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-LOT-8-OEM-Ignition-Coil-on-Plug-DG515-Lincoln-LS_W0QQitemZ160171931017QQihZ006QQcategoryZ33689QQ rdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Thanks! look like coils to me.. thet best decision you can make right now is to purchase the 8 coils from five star ford--> because you can get the coils super cheap there. i suggest not getting a one off coil brand - stick with oem - but its your decision. you can get all the stuff you need on five star ford, give them a call or pm a vendor.. Midas78 December 10th, 2007, 10:26 AM You guys forgot the most obvous problem..........The dealerships! Friday the window regulator on the front passenger side gave out (124k). This morning I take the car to the dealership and they offer to change my upper and lower control arms front and back for $4k. How nice of them. They do need to be changed but at that cost? I think it's a fair dealership, but they do everything at retail and charge labor based on projects and not by the hour. Ex. Air conditioner took them less than 1.5 hours - cost me $1k to replace. I asked the sales person about the labor rates, she said the labor was based on the project not by the hour. | ||||
