well i need an input shaft bearing, and an output shaft bearing in my tranny. team ford parts did not have a part number for it, nor did my dealer. my dealer called ford directly and said there are no parts available, and it is non serviceable. im guessing my only option would be to have it rebuilt, does this sound right?

i dont understand ford and why they do not have parts for this tranny. i would really like this fixed. i have spent thousands on repairs on this car and i can tell you, it will be the last ford product i ever buy.

It's all in the economics. The cars that used those trannies have been out of production for almost six years, and they sold fewer than 1200 of them. That, and the tranny was sourced from Getrag, not Ford, so they'd only have had the repair parts in inventory that they would commonly need for repairs while the cars were under warranty.

You might look around locally and see if there's a shop that deals in bearings; they can probably provide the bearings you need. At the very least, try calling a transmission shop and see if you can buy the parts you need from them, or if they can point you to a source for them.

So far yeah! Romo went to Eastern Illinois University. Been to many drunken parties with him.

It's a Getrag model 221, I believe. I'm needing a rebuild on mine, too. Second gear synchro is shot. I found a used 85K tranny online at Greenleafauto.com, I think it listed at around $700. It looks like they may be available as a complete new unit from Ford at around $1400. I'm hoping that a rebuild shop can just rebuild mine, before it blows up from the grinding when the synchro doesn't do its job. It's kind of funny that the Ford parts department doesn't have parts for the internals. I read on this forum where someone had Ford rebuild theirs and it it never felt better afterward. (along with a new clutch installed on that poster's car)

Oh and yep, nice performance on the Pats in Dallas.
