Im sure you have seen them and I was just wondering if you guys had ever thought of a reputation meter. This will help people decide on whether or not the members have good credibility by others or just like to post alot.

those systems dont work. Too much rep is given for the wrong reasons. You end up with "revenge rep" and "friends rep" - so its not accurate. it also starts fights and pisses people off.

Once you have been on here a short while it becomes clear who the credible guys are. Searching user profiles, reading old posts and participating in chat can also help.

everyone's  until proven otherwise. (It doesn't take long to smell sh!t when it bakes in the sun)

... besides, some people are just here having fun (eg, http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=35950 ) and being that there is a large social element to this site, I fail to see what's wrong with it. As well, some people seem to just enjoy antagonizing each other as in the political forums ;).

Some people you like regardless of popularity - some people you won't like - regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I see it work on other sites. It works great if people don't act like idiots like you say Joey going off on stupid revenge rants and all but that is a good point.

As this debate heats up, one thing comes to mind. Only the ultra cool make it to the July meet in Boscobel. There, one can be sure that thier reputation is make solid.
