so i was at the supermarket getting into the parking lot and was going 5 mph and a f150 older model backed into my quarter panel and bent a rod and body damage as well as scratched my rear passenger wheel. i know the pik really doesn't show much but it's all i got before i took it to the mechanics

the wheel itself wasn't bent but the whole tire and wheel were at a crazy angle which didn't let me drive it and had to be towed. sorry for just the one pik and not being good quality but this damn phone sucks (it's a t-mobile MDA). does anyone know how much it costs to re-chrome a wheel? and with my paint being 6 years old now how likely is it that a body shop can leave the paint close to what it is on the car now? any info much appreciated

That suck dude, i had some dumb ass lady rear end me the insurance gave me $890 but with my pint being a few years old i didnt think it would match up nice so i paid a tottal of $3200 and painted the whole car while i was at it i got all the little dings out and the car looks brand new. sometimes these things lead to the start of custamizing. I was gonna keep it stock but after they hit me i decided to redo the front end paint the whole car and put rims on it. Hope your damage isnt to bad.

As long as the car has been kept clean and the paint is regularly waxed, they should have no trouble at all matching it.

yeah i know, i've been bummed out about it but maybe it happened for a reason. exactly a week ago i was in palmdale and was driving my cuzzins car and was hit from behind at a red light. ironically enough i was on my way to my lawyers office in los angeles but wanted to stop by the market first. o well, so far the mechanic quoted me at 360 for the part and labor and i haven't taken it to the body shop because they will not receive the part till monday. it sucks when an accident can be avoided by just properly looking in the rearview. thanks for the sympathy guys. i was thinking of painting the whole car but i'm still debating. how much does the dealer charge for factory paint?

what is the process they go through to straighten bend wheels? is it something that if fixed has a higher percentage of being damaged once again? they mechanic told me he checked if the wheel was bent in any way by putting it on a balance machine and he said it was fine. it does have two big scratches on there though which i would like to fix, i want to know how much it costs to re-chrome tho so i can tell the guy who ran into me. and the scratch on the body is at pretty much from the rear corner (well not really a corner but you get the idea) all the way to the wheel itself which is a long scratch. it's not bent in at all just the scratch. i'm thinking they'll just have to sand it down and spray the area but i don't want it to look weird. thanks again guys for the info

A good shop will have no problem making the paint match when the car leaves the shop. Problem I've had is that after a year or two the repair doesn't match any more because the paint fades at a different rate. Had it happen both ways, my 88 mustang after a year the repair looked great but the rest of the car had faded. I had the bumper repainted on my LS in 2005, it looked great at first but now it's noticeably more faded than the rest of the car. Most insurance companies guarantee the repair for as long as you own the car, so if you can have your insurance fix the car, and let them get reimbursed by the other drivers insurance.

your insurance company should replace the wheel if it's damaged, and especially if it's his fault...

If it's a discontinued rim, try wheelcollison.com (may not be exact address, try google if wrong) I know they can refinish factory rims...

so i got my car back today. the man that crashed into me picked up the tab which was 360 for the replacement of the rear rod and for the allignment. next i went to a body shop for the painting of the bumper and he estimated at 380 and is going to shoot the whole bumper and this shop specializes in factory paint matching. saw some of his work and was impressed. will take piks after the bumper is painted

My wheel isn't to bad. No vibration at all, its not bent out of round but side to side. not very much. I'm not even gonna worry for now. I'm not sure if it can be fixed, if it could it would probably ruin the chrome.
