Well Ive been lurking for a while now but figured Id register. About 2 months ago I picked up a 1996 Mark VIII base with 90k on it for $3600 out the door. I was looking for a mark or a tbird, but couldnt seem to find one in good shape. Initially I saw this one but overlooked it due to all the cosmetic problems it had. But later came back to check it out after finding out it only had 90k and a clean history.
Mechanically its pretty much sound, with the exception of the suspension; Ive had most of it replaced, at a rather hefty cost, but still havent gotten to the airbags and co. The interior is in pretty good shape, but the exterior needed some work. Ive replaced the headlights and cornering lights and am going to get around to the chrome trim and touching up the paint on the hood.
My last car was a Mercury Grand Marquis, almost the same color, which I really liked, but alas it was smacked almost head-on by a chevy malibu down in warren, who it turns out, ran a red light.
I was at the recent MI meet (Ill post pics later) and I have the LMS exhaust kit on the car, which Im really pleased with. Im also RedPanther on crownvic.net
