n8bachelor August 14th, 2007, 05:37 PM It varies greatly with my v6 LS. I have recorded between 16 and 20 city and between 22 and 27 highway with an overall average of 21 mpg. Air conditioner use and rapid accelleration are the two easiest ways to lower those MPG.
I know those v8 guys don't average much worse but have much more power.... :( I should have gotten the v8.
Gas price here in Bentonville, AR
87 gas $2.76
89 gas $2.86
91 gas $3.01
dtx01 August 14th, 2007, 05:37 PM i think i average around 15-17mpg on my v8
gas here in NY is $3.29 for 93.
tagliato22 August 14th, 2007, 05:44 PM about 15 local

mergner26 August 14th, 2007, 05:46 PM 2.80-85 for premium here in jersey
i don't use the highway much but i get exactly 17 around town without air
KevinACrider August 14th, 2007, 06:48 PM I'm at 20.8 pretty steady. We use A/C (auto setting, 60* temps both sides) non-stop, every time. $2.99 here for 93. Saw 87 at $2.54 yesterday.
BTW, I'm in Harrisburg, PA.
moneyUWM August 14th, 2007, 07:04 PM about 22.3 mpg about half city and half highway (about 60-75 mph)
Gas here in Milwaukee, WI for 93 is $2.99 - $3.09
Black03 August 14th, 2007, 07:07 PM Last tank was 20.8 mixed driving, 110*+ temps.

owlman August 14th, 2007, 08:41 PM I travelled 4796 miles and bought 229 gallons of gas since I bought the car, so 20.9 mpg. (the onboard computer always overestimates)
Worst/best tank: 18.0 / 24.2
Worst/best instantaneous: 0 / 99
06 v8
vicls August 14th, 2007, 08:53 PM I still gotta fill the tank and check. So how do i calculate the amount of gas i used. divide by then # of km's i drive with the full tank till its empty?
04SCTLS August 14th, 2007, 10:29 PM Fill the tank.
Reset the trip odometer.
On the next refill which doesn't have to be when you're empty
note how much it takes to fill up.
Divide distance traveled by fuel consumed and you'll have your average miles per gallon, or in Canada km per liter.
Never did like the liters per 100 km way of stating consumption.
To do that fill up, drive say 400 km then fill up again and take that liter figure say 48 liters and divide it by 4 so you would have 12 liters per 100 km or 8.33 km per liter-about 3 us gallons for 62 miles approx 20 mpg.
This is just an example.
kingofmy_h August 14th, 2007, 11:27 PM I am getting 14.8. This is my best so far. I am hoping that my new fuel filter will push into 16+.
B_Kuz August 14th, 2007, 11:31 PM During the week back and forth to work, I'm at 12 to 13... but on the highway, heading up to Sedona or Payson, I'm getting mid 20s... but i think i have a bad coil or two, so that could account for the crappy mileage...
rickztahone August 15th, 2007, 01:53 AM i get steady 16
93=$3.05 lately (it's been going down significantly)
HyeLifeLS August 15th, 2007, 03:11 AM I get about 18 in my 01 V6.
pwr2killayak August 15th, 2007, 08:25 AM mostly city im getting 14.5(says the computer). i need to get the xcal2 and have torrie do a tune bc i know the computer is way wrong due to the bigger wheels.
lseguy August 15th, 2007, 08:29 AM 2002 V8 with 18 inch wheels. (if that matters). On the highway at a steady 65mph, I can get a solid 25mpg.
My usual mix of 75% city, 25% highway gets me an average of 16mpg this time of year..A/C usually always on.
RAPHAELJUNIOR August 15th, 2007, 11:36 AM i get 11-13 city and 17 highway
i think i get the low city because i took off one (the center) converter and the two resisters(?) toward the end of the exhaust and its starting to smell like gas. 03 LS
smdandb2 August 15th, 2007, 11:39 AM In the city I get about 17-19. On the freeway if I play nice, I have averaged 27-28 on a 300 mile round trip.
This is with the a/c on non stop.
04 LS V8
Premium is $2.91 here in Salt Lake now.
King03LS8 August 15th, 2007, 01:07 PM 16-17 city average
21-23 hwy average
since KKM installation:
11-12 city....haha, gotta lay off the gas
Garbone August 15th, 2007, 01:40 PM Oh boy, you can sure tell who has the lead feet on this forum.
I drive VERY brisquely, and avg in town about 17-17.5...almost all of the time.
On the highway, I will get 20-23, depending on how much of a hurry I am.
I also have an aftermarket intake, and I believe it helps my mileage. Except for when I am hearing that sound, and keep my right foot down...:)
Super(92), is about 2.90/gal.
Eliot_Ness_Ls August 15th, 2007, 01:59 PM 18 city...24 highway.
Used to get anywhere from 10.9-15 no matter what but then I used....SEAFOAM.
PGA2B August 15th, 2007, 11:55 PM I get 18 city and 24-25 Hwy with my V8 and 20's. My milage went up 4mpg after I switched to Royal Purple and treated her with Slick 50. With the stockers I got 26-28 hwy after the RP and Slick 50.
postalUT August 16th, 2007, 12:37 AM I do around 18 in the city and it can vary on interstate driving. If I'm doing 80 i spend most of my time behind a slow driver and end up slowing down and speeding up ruining my mpg. If i do a constant smooth 70 I have gotten up to 29. If I'm still in the mountains on the interstate my mpg drops by 3 or so. The entrance of my apartment complex is a steep steep hill and I get about 5 in automatic and six if I'm really on the ball with my SST
pektel August 16th, 2007, 10:56 AM 2000 V8 101k miles. Bone stock. I get about 19 mixed city/hwy. 91 octane (the best i can get in nerthern Minnesota) today is 2.84/gal
Jim Henderson August 16th, 2007, 11:50 AM As usual YMMV(Your Mileage May Vary). All depends on driving style, weather conditions, traffic, speed etc.
I have a 2004 LSV8 with about 56K miles on it.
My usual 60 mile round trip commute, relatively flat land, is a mix of about 15 miles street, no traffic, about 10 heavy stop and go and the rest at freeway speeds of at least 55 up to about 80(that IS the flow, not just me). My average mileage is around 18mpg. A little higher if it is cool and down maybe to 17 if I use a lot of AC.
Strangely and could be imaginary, it seems like if I just fill up the tank and get stuck in traffic, the mileage gets stuck pretty low. If I can get moving on a fresh tank and get the mileage above say 20, it doesn't drop so much when I do get stuck.
On long trips like Las Vegas to LA round trip at about 80+ I get about 24-25mpg. A little less with AC.
Just my averages and YMMV,
Jim Henderson
CT Swagger August 16th, 2007, 06:20 PM How is gas so cheap around the country??? I just paid today $3.19 for 89 in Connecticut.. thats pretty cheap too.. its about $3.35 for 89 in Stamford, CT
ohh yeah my car get avg about 18mpg 00v6
uknowmehfo August 16th, 2007, 06:25 PM well.. this week it was
93 prem was 2.91... but oh boy about 2 hours ago CHEVRON company down here that provides the whole Gulf Coast gas. BLEW UP... UGH.. said maybe be 4-5 a gallon
time to get on the R1 :) 15 bucks at 5 bucks probably fill it up and get a good 250 miles
moneyUWM August 16th, 2007, 06:58 PM ^^ oh snap...
Im thinkin the same thing. I have an r6 :) lil less than 15 bucks....easily 2-3 weeks before I fill that up. Then again...its only 8 miles to work :)
Lets not hope 4-5 $$ a gallon.......f* that.
Bodyshield August 16th, 2007, 10:55 PM 93 octane is around 2.88 here in San Antonio, Texas
get around 23 mpg on an 05 LS8, 75% highway with about 15% of the 25 stop and go traffic, but like everyone, depends if your hauling ass everywhere
wildstang607 August 17th, 2007, 12:20 AM i recently took a round trip of about 100 miles, all highway miles. one way the cruise was set at 70 and the fuel mileage averaged 25. way back with cruise on at 60mph, got about 27 to 28. All with the air on, 19" rims and about 90 degrees outside. i know someone with an all stock lse that gets 30 highway mpg in the winter. i don't know at what speed. i only get about 14 around town because of my driving habits.
paintball_addict August 17th, 2007, 01:09 AM If I keep my foot out of it, the trip computer says 20 with mixed driving. The only modification so far is a K&N intake. I haven't done a highway trip yet in the summer or since the K&N. When I bought the car in January and drove 1800 miles home it averaged mid 20's.
I just completed a road trip to California(in my Taurus) and the cheapest gas I saw was $2.36 in Missouri. Luckily I haven't had to pay $3 yet this trip.
MDavis0424 August 17th, 2007, 09:25 AM 16mpg back and forth to work, about 10 miles of back roads with no highway.
25mpg highway with the cruise set at 75.
Tried it once just to see the best mileage I could get, set the cruise at 50 and it runs a little under 30mpg with A/C off.
infamous amos August 18th, 2007, 01:12 AM I have been getting 20.8 in city without A/C. It's a V6 5-speed and I don't drive like a grandma. I haven't been able to stay on the freeway for an entire tank, but I used to get 25-26 with A/C.
eastcoastLS August 18th, 2007, 12:31 PM 20 is the average. 17 in city and 22 on the highway. 2000 v8. i was getting 16 in city and 19 on highway until i changed all my spark plugs.

LS-N-IT August 30th, 2007, 01:29 PM Well.. I get pretty good mileage for a v8 with my 06
Stop and go to and from work: 19.2 mpg average.
55-60mph: 31 mpg average
70-75mph: drops to 27.4 mpg
If I keep it at 90-105mph (average speeds when I see my folks down in OK, 900 miles each way): 24.4mpg
With my long trips, I don't notice any change in mileage between 87 and 92 octane.
