Hi Max! Could you give me price/availability for a brake booster and a check valve for my 93' mark viii. Thanks. Martin.

You will have to do a dealer search, as they are obsolete. They are expensive.

Really? Thanks AHD. I know nappa do rebuilt ones so will give them a try. Seems more and more stuff is becoming obsolete now.

You can get a reman one at any of the auto parts stores. You might be able to find a new one on a national dealer/warehouse search. That's how I Got mine. Dealer in lakeland fl had one. I was working for a dealer at the time, and got it at 10% over cost. IT still cost me in the $230 or $250 range. I can't remember.

Edit: IF you still decide to go with a reman, ask them for a cougar or thunderbird with abs booster, as it might be cheaper. They are the same part.

Thanks for the advice AHD. The Nappa one made by ATE looks good and its less than 200 so will go with that. Autozone has cheaper ones made by cardoman but been told to avoid them. Yeah whenever i look for parts now i use a 96 thundebird as my reference. In this case they are same part and same price. Not sure what you mean by one with ABS booster? All should be well though.

The cougars and thunderbirds came with and without abs. The non abs booster is a different p/n. Before you buy, wait and see what kind of price max can give you on a new one.

Oh right. I thought u said they were obsolete? By that i assumed u meant max wouldnt have them. If he can get me one, even better. If i do order from nappa i will make sure i get the right one. In the pic it looks very similar. Has the main hole, a check valve hole and another hole for an electrical plug. I assume thats the bit u mean for ABS.

Obsolete means they're not being produced anymore. But chances are you might still find one at a dealership in Puerto Rico, or lord knows where else.

I used Puerto Rico as an example because a long time ago, before I met Maxx, the local FORD parts girl found me an obsolete gasket in PR.

Well, i will wait and see if Max has one, if not then plan B. Im sure a reman one will be ok though. I wonder if a rebuild / overhaul kit exists.

Hi 93
Thank you for the request.
I am out of the office today and will return on monday. I will research it at that time and reply with you options. I will also try the locator to see if anyone has what you need if it is indeed an obsolete part. If it is as AHD says then Prior Reman out of texas comes to mind. More info on Monday.

Boosters are not consumer rebuildable. Obsolete means ford doosn't carry it any more. That doesn't mean that a dealer might have it sitting on the shelf. YOu must do a national locater search as max stated he would do on monday. I don't know exactly what the differences are between the abs and non abs booster, but I know they are a different p/n.

Hi 93

That booster is obsolete but I found 161 of them and retail was $359.00 and it comes with the actuator. I would have to call and see waht it would cost if it sound like you might want it. You do have antilock....right??

Hi Max! Thanks for the info. Yes i do have antilock. $359 is well out of my price range but if u could find a better price for it then that would be great. Dont worry if you cant. Thanks. Martin.
