Mercon V

Hey guys I'm gonna have a tranny flush and 1-2 accumulator upgrade and I was wondering what brand Mercon v should I get and how much it should cost... I saw that Mobil 1 discontinued their's and I'm kinda lost... would any name brand Mercon V work?... even from wally world? thanks for the advice

Yes any would work. That being said I personally liked to stay with the name brands even though some say they all come from the same hole in the ground.
QTY??? 95 shows 12.0 in my book and the 96 shows 6.5 and the 97-98 shows 6.0 qts. It also depends on whether or not you drain the converter.

You can buy motorcraft fluid. Also, motorcraft makes a combo fluid that meets the specs of both mercon V and Mercon III - previous. I would use this fluid. Reason being, that the 2 fluids are not compatible. If you get them mixed you will have problems. IF you use the combo fluid, you can just do a flush or drain the pain/converter and not worry about cross contamination.

Check your local Wal-Mart for Mobil 1 ATF. Plenty in stock in my local in NH with a price under $6. Otherwise, buy 14qts of Mercon V; preferably Motorcraft brand.
