AC system refill...

Hello. Well I FINALLY got my AC lines hooked up. I am sure it will all explode, but before I buy all new parts I figured I may as well fill it and see.

I know it has to be vacuumed out. At which point I will also do the basic leak test and make sure it holds a vacuum.

But when I re-fill, how many ounces of refrigerant do I use? Any clue at all? I will have to add some oil - that I know. But I want to have enough cans on hand of refrigerant.

And yes I searched but could not find a good answer.....

LOL.... sounds like mine. I did not have the two lines in since I got the car back on the road last fall. I cleaned all the connections, put new o-rings on, but there is only so much crap I could clean out of the open ports.

I priced all new (compressor reman) at Rock auto and it came to almost a $1000.00 if I need to replace it all. And with systems like this, its almost best to replace the whole thing.

We shall see what happens. The heat does not bug me much, its winter driving. Without AC the windows frost up since the air being drawn in is not dried out.
