I am so sad right now :(.
The LS is sold, and I thought I'd be thrilled to be rid of her.
Anyways, I'm bowing out. You all have been a great source of information, and I want to thank ALL who have helped me with the various issues over the years - you know who you are, and your knowledge and expertise are/were valued immensely.
I feel like going into a dark corner and crying right now :( :( :(.

sometimes i get a big urge to trade my ls for something else and get rid of it, but I know I woudl feel just like you if I did.. sorry to hear you lost your true love. (i know thats what i refer to mine as haha)

That sucks, mang. Get yourself a Mark VIII and see what you've been missing... and what you won't be missing in your wallet because of the fewer repairs as compared to an LS.

Unless of coarse your me. My LSE has had no problems at all. I've done front brakes and the air cabin filter in 40k over 21months, thats it besides a few mods.
My MarkVIII brakes nearly everytime I touch it and always did. That has alot to do with why I stopped driving it as the DD.
I love my MarkVIII but not for the DD.
I like my LS alot more these days.

I don't want to think about the money and parts I've sunk into my 2000 (early build model).
Right off the bat when I bought it, power steering lines, computer (warrentied), 2 coil packs, valve cover gaskets, ball joints, wheel bearings, 3 window regulators, all 4 rotors/pads, tie rod ends, newer fog lamps, grilles, battery, mufflers, tint, hitch.
Then there's the cost of ownership, at $500/month payment, $80 insurance, about $300/month in gas. Then there's the cost of general maintenence, and expensive repairs. Friggen thing was keeping me broke.
Anways, about the Mk8 - I kinda have something similar, my first car (bought 5 years old) a 92 Cougar XR7. Have it all done up, and am driving my long since paid for car around and couldn't be happier for not having financial strains due to owning that damn LS.
The Cat has never let me down, in the 11 years I've owned her she's only ever needed brakes. I have modified suspension/motor/exhaust/tranny/rear end/cooling/ and cosmetics, but those were of my own volition.
