skenneyjr June 2nd, 2007, 09:28 PM i just want a RWD V8 Lincoln now, changed the mind from just a Town Car
and i like fasterness:D
what do these cost to insure compared to the Town Car?
more, less, same?
and how easy will a blown 5.4 slip in?:D
yes, im dreaming, but hopefully in a few weeks ill have a Lincoln and then the money pit will be in action(there is no such thing as "too much power")
tell me if i should shut up
MYTURN June 2nd, 2007, 09:53 PM These cars are something else. I owned about 7-8 mustangs and a 90 mark vii and i always wanted a mark viii but the price was too high.BUT not anymore. They are just as fast as a mustang but smother, more stylish, very unique, and still respond well too power.
just be aware of the KING and dont ask too many questions

im only 16, maybe they dont understand the awesomeness of Lincolns.....
i want a fast car that is cheaper to insure than a mustang:D
anyways, who is the KING?
and why shouldnt i ask too many questions?
Staffamerica74 June 3rd, 2007, 01:44 AM Well my insurance company told me that it would be cheaper to insure my 93 mark then my slant 6 71 duster.... So I bought the mark right away. Then 6 months later they must have realized because the insurance lists my Mark as a high performance car.
skenneyjr June 3rd, 2007, 02:00 AM damn...
ill have to check what it will cost me
damned :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs sueing everyone requires me to have full insurance an 10 millions owrth of liability so they cant go after my parents........
Frogman June 3rd, 2007, 07:16 AM anyways, who is the KING?
and why shouldnt i ask too many questions?
Apparently, that would be me. You see, pinhead over there is butthurt because I told him to search when he started posting some questions that have been covered so many times it ain't even funny. And I guess it's his turn to be/do something...
So, with that, he got all butthurt, and now is trying to insult me.
MYTURN, are you REALLY this dim? Please tell me you really are retarded, that way I won't make you look like a total t00l.
Anyways, enjoy your Mark if you buy one.
pepperman June 3rd, 2007, 09:00 AM Frogman is not the King, he is just the resident search Nazi. :D
skenneyjr June 3rd, 2007, 10:05 AM so i see.....:D
wait, did he get pissed at me or the other guy?
i looked, and test drove a Mark VIII this morning, i loved it
5 grand, 75k miles, mint
belongs to an old man.......
Markasaurus VIII June 3rd, 2007, 10:09 AM you might wanna haggle a lil :P see what you can get, because i am getting my Mark VIII in a couple days, it is in almost perfect condition, been garage kept, 40,000 miles for $3850, so see what you can do with the price
skenneyjr June 3rd, 2007, 11:20 AM well always haggle, buying at what they ask for is just screwing you, most people set teh price $1000 more than they will take at a minimum
Frogman June 3rd, 2007, 03:40 PM so i see.....:D
wait, did he get pissed at me or the other guy?
I didn't get pissed at anyone. That MYTURN pinhead got all butthurt when I told him to search. Nothing new, really.
Calabrio June 3rd, 2007, 03:42 PM  How did you hurt his butt?

Doc June 3rd, 2007, 04:45 PM I pay $310. a year for my 93.
skenneyjr June 3rd, 2007, 08:46 PM sorry to be a pest, but does anyone know if the Mark VIII can tow?
i have a 500 pound 6x12 trailer and a 1300 pound Polaris Ranger i was wondering if i would be able to tow it, tongue weight is probably 150-250 pounds.......
Frogman June 3rd, 2007, 10:14 PM Should be able to with a properly installed receiver.
skenneyjr June 3rd, 2007, 10:59 PM will this overload the suspenaion or cause problems you think?
i know it wasnt built to tow, but it seems like it should have enough torque to do the job....
Frogman June 3rd, 2007, 11:21 PM There are a few mark VIII owners here that do tow with their marks. Use the Search function!
MediumD June 4th, 2007, 04:17 AM I towed a 2100lb trailer with mine - I have the standard height air ride converion. There was some suspension travel left but not a whole lot. I then put a 2900lb car on that 2100lb trailer and towed it 900 miles, getting 11mpg the whole way with no suspension travel at all - but it did OK.

The search function is overrated.
skenneyjr June 4th, 2007, 11:29 AM you guys crack me up
if it can do one ton ok i should be fine
thansk fro all the help!
MonsterMark June 4th, 2007, 01:25 PM Put a trans cooler in it and tow in 3rd to save the overdrive bands.
Unless you have a '98 trans or an updated OWC (One-way clutch) I would NOT get in the habit of manually shifting. That is the one thing that kills these trannies. A j-mod would also help or a baumann shift kit.
skenneyjr June 4th, 2007, 02:19 PM okay, should i also put on an oil cooler/upgrade?
and what will allow me to manually shift the tranny? because i love doing it occasionally in our Fords with the 4 speed auto
MonsterMark June 4th, 2007, 02:39 PM okay, should i also put on an oil cooler/upgrade?

Tranny cooler is more important, especially if towing. Oil cooler is an option.
If you shift the 4R70W manually in upshifts (1 to 2) and downshifts (4 to 2) the One Way Clutch toasts and you are left driving around in second gear as you will not be able to get 3rd and 4th.
Only solution is to install a mechanical diode to replace the OWC and I would still either do the j-mod or put in a baumann shift kit to add additional life to the tranny. Don't manually shift until you have at least done on of those two things or I will end up having to say I told you so.
If you get a '98 and later trans, the fix is already in there for ya.
