All Lights

I've been thinking about replacing all of my exterior lighting with LED bulbs... Been looking at www.jamstrait.com Would anyone advise against this? Some of my current bulbs are getting old and dingy. I figure I could use LED cause they last longer and are brighter and crisper, and response is faster. Also still using stock headlamps, what should I do about those? I thought about getting some HIDs but I don't know a whole lot about that...

I've read in the mark forums that hid's in halogen headlight housings will eventually ruin the housings, make the reflextive film burn off.

Most store bought LEDs arent going to be overall brighter than your halogens b/c they dont reflect the light like a standard bulb. If I were you I would only buy one pair and see if you like the light they produce. Then base your future bulbs off that. also look at superbrightleds.com

The big problem with LEDs is they really do not create a very broad angle of illumination, so if the bulb is not angled right, it won't produce the same effect as a standard bulb.

I also agree with the above post about HIDs, not just about the reflective problem, but also about the angles the light is produced. Vehicles with factory HIDS have different reflectors at different angles to produce a specific light pattern that is not the same as non-HID cars. This is why many people including the DOT don't like aftermarket HIDs because the light pattern produced on aftermarket lights is not the same as OEM and it can create a blinding effect for oncoming drivers.

I see, good point about this HIDs... As far as the LED's not reflecting light... i wondered that myself, then i seen these: http://www.jamstrait.com/Radial1157Litcopy.jpg
and thought maybe that would work better to reflect off the reflectors.

I bought some white led's from www.frickinbrite.com and didn't buy the load resistor, so when I hooked them up the turn signals went faster and the check brake light warning went on. If you get LED's you have to get the load resistor, which on some sites can be expensive..especially when one tailight has 4 different bulbs. Ohh but do they ever look cool!

Actually, I like that site better... I'll have to buy some lights from them and test them out... they have a better selection. Don't know witch lights i want to try it out on, cause if i don't like it, then i dont want to mess around with load equalizers.

I read about that too but the Mark housings suck with or without HIDS, I've had 8000k Hids on my conti for a good while and no complaints thus far. They're brighter, better visibility and I think they make the car look great :D

The light housings are different in the 97 model though.
