Hi, I'm very happy to join this group. I have been reading alot of threads for a week or so now. I have a 2001 LS8 Sport... I rally love this car. Its the best handling car I've ever owned. I do have a question. Someone posted a link to LLSOC about all the changes through the LS years. One surprised me, that in 01 the LS only had a 3.31 rear. Iwas told it had a 3.58 rear. Which is correct?? My car was made 6/28/01 so its a late production. I'm wondering how much of the 2002 is in it??? The oil cap tells me to use 5W-20W oil. Thats part of the 02. Great to be aboard :L

Only very early build '00's had the 3.58. IIRC, the rear was changed to 3.31 in July of 1999.

alot of the 2000-2002 are similar - the big changes came in 03 with the new 280hp engine, vvt, etc, ...
most of the differences 2000-2002 are interior related - as the powertrain is very close.
all the mods we do to a 2001 fit a 2000-2002.
