I'm looking at gluing together a 4 cam engine for my odd-ball ride.


After plowing thru the Lexus / Toyota 1 / 2 / 3 UZ FE Tech
for the past two months - I got a couple of less than stellar questions:rolleyes:



Take a '98 Lincoln 4.6 Alloy cyl. block: which I'm guesstimating is 'THE BEST CHOICE' - > Is this a 6 bolt main?

Anyone with some great .jpgs of a 'nakid' block 'n mains for the 4.6 and Navi 5.4 ?



Any idea why for the 'blown' Cobra engine / 2007 - FORD chose to use a cast iron block ? and is that one a 4 bolt or 6 bolt ?



I haven't seen anyone on this site saying anything beyond one person using a Navigator intake on a project, about stuffing a 5.4 into they 'Linc' .......this
due to the intake height ?

checking this site for dimensions / weights

5.4 Navigator / 660 lbs. - cast iron block - forged crank
4.6 Aviator / 672 lbs. - Alloy block - cast crank



Is it weird that an Iron Block / Forged .5"+ stroker crank is 12 lbs less ?

Dimensions are 45" x 37" x 37" for both engines - so, same width for
a 5.4 with near half inch bigger arm ?




Has anyone stuffed a 5.4 crank into a 4.6 Lincoln block :eek: - or can't it be ?



Has anyone transplanted a 5.4 4cam top end onto a 4.6 Lincoln block
as it might flow more air ?

The 5.4 has a taller deck height. If you've got the room, there's not too many reasons not to go with a 5.4 4v, displacement is good..

Ford also used an iron block in the 03-04 4v Cobras (07 are 3v. I would have to assume for strength over the existing aluminum block at that time - however all aluminum blocks are not the same. The Mark VIIIs have a Teksid block which has been successfully run at 1xxxRWHP..

It's a 6 Bolt main. See pic below.

Either that, or due to a lot of people only talking about what they want to do, but never actually doing anything for whatever reasons.

The 4.6 and the 5.4 are the same physical block sizes.

Dunno. I've got a 298 Stroker crank in my 98.
