1960-66ish Continental Motor Swaps?Stack April 26th, 2007, 07:09 PM What other BBF's can you put in those bad boys to replace either the 430 in the earlier models or the 462's in the later models??? Help me out guys! Stack May 2nd, 2007, 08:57 AM so NOBODY is going to answer my question huh??? hillborn May 12th, 2007, 08:14 AM No I dont THINK so.... Check out my post just before yours. Maybe alot of lurkers here but no one with any info. Let me do some checking around for you on that swap though. Jibit May 12th, 2007, 06:03 PM I want to say the 390 or a 428. I'm not sure if a 429 will work but I think they had similar setups. hillborn May 16th, 2007, 11:55 AM any FE engine will work if you need a block let me know. Have a 62 390 solid lifter block. All machine work has been done. Jerry62 August 28th, 2007, 10:27 PM Firstly, I simply must ask the question, "why?". Is the engine that's currently in the car worn out or close to it? Is there anything wrong with the engine as an engine? If not, I see no reason to make a switch . . . . . and I can see lots of reasons NOT to switch engines, unles you're a "glutton for punishment". Seriously. I'm not trying to insult you or question your judgment. I just want to know the real "why". Secondly, any of the suggested possible engine swaps/changes are going to prove to be a disappointment, even in the best of luck and circumstances. This is because these Lincolns are exceptionally heavy. Thus, they require MASSIVE amounts of torque---torque that you will not get from any other engine in sufficient quantity, unless you opt for a late 60s - early 70s 460. Now, the 460 is physically much smaller on the outside. It IS, to be very sure, eminently strong enough, "torquey enough", for the job. But, again; I have to ask, why do you want to do this job? Unless the engine in your car is seriously "tired", I advise against it. While the Lincoln engineers did, at times, design weird stuff like hydraulic windshield wipers or four-muffler dual exhaust systems [translated, quiet but expensive], these engineers DID know what they were doing when it came to engines. You can be very sure about that. Finally, what do you think a different engine will achieve for your car? Jerry | ||||
