Tran Issue!!

Trying to troubleshoot my tran on a 93' Mark VIII..

Should there be a delay in acceleration ?

When I go full throttle from stopped position there is a 1-2 second delay from when accelerator is pressed and the wheels engages..

Is this a common issue ? Or is there something I should be looking into ?

Thanks for any input...

First thing I would check is proper fluid level.

try this
take dip stick check level if level seems ok smell fluid does it smell burnt? is it black? next take the fluid off the stick with your thum and index finger is it gritty? if the answer is yes to any of the questions get a fluid change dont forget the convertor make sure you drain it and make sure the lines are drained too. if his dont work let me know and we will go gto the next step.

ya know, my tranny does the same thing (but not all the time)

I know it's not good though. Sometimes when I step on it, it does the same thing you're talking about then when it engages it gives the tires a little squeek.

something to maybe check out is the MLPS (manual lever position sensor). Does you're tranny ever disengage out of the blue, then all of a sudden re-engage? possibility

try it out... it's mounted right on the side of the trans. Anyway, did a shop install the new tranny? I'd be bringing it back to them If it were me
