mespock November 20th, 2004, 10:54 PM Took the Mark VIII out today and had an itch. :steering
Had a good friend in the car and we were discussing at what speed the VIII would cut out.
Well.........Not sure how accurate the Speedometer is but!!!
She was still climbing after 130 mph.....when my friend said ok that's enough.
Wow can that baby handle the speed....smooooooth..... :L
Oh, I didn't find the cut off speed!
1wykdmk8 November 20th, 2004, 11:39 PM Supposedly the non LSC stops at 133 (or somewhere around there) and the LSC stops at 135.
Joeychgo November 20th, 2004, 11:46 PM He has a 1993- there was no LSC designation in 1993 - just one model was put out in 1993 and 1994.
Marine November 21st, 2004, 02:15 AM The guy I bought my 93 from said he did 140. I've been to 130ish and had enough. It's amazing how you get super-hearing and sight at that speed. I could swear I heard my butt cheeks swallow up a fair amount of seat!.
Joeychgo November 21st, 2004, 02:36 AM I cranked it up to about 135 at one point - I was running out of room (found a nice stratch of highway that was empty)
I was fine with it but Michelle was contemplating how she could fit in the glove compartment.
Katshot November 21st, 2004, 06:07 AM Yeah, women are like that. ;)
Isn't there an application that you can buy that would allow you to reprogram the Lincoln computer? Is it a re-flashable computer or does it require a chip change?
For my Cadillac, I bought a software application that allows me to customize the whole thing with my laptop. Isn't there anything like that for Lincolns?

Man what was scarry was how comfortable it all felt. She was just flying and and riding as smooth as could be. I wanted to go further but I guess I had some respect for my buddy next to me.
What I find amazing is how well the car rides and handles at that speed.
I'd like to find some nice lonely stretch of express way and do it again.
The thought of a Deer jumping out did pass through my head. Not that I took out some deer on that stretch before. But that was at regular hwy speeds.
Katshot November 21st, 2004, 09:26 AM It's pretty common for people to think their car "seems" to ride so smooth at higher speeds. It's actually just because the aerodynamics of the car are creating a good deal of lift under the car and that gives the ride quality a big boost. You're literally flying along on a cushion of air!

Good old Bernulli just don't want to become airborne. LOL..
1wykdmk8 November 21st, 2004, 10:51 AM The fastest I have been in a Mark is a bit over 150 (had a chip in it), but I am not totally sure that is how fast I was going because I had different size tires/wheels on it at the time. I think with the difference I was around 140-142 MPH, but I ran out of straight road to keep going, but it seemed that I did. :Beer
bucketthead November 21st, 2004, 01:48 PM wow i wish my tc could do those speeds i can only go 107 it sux i live out here in the midde of nowhere there r lonely roads all over ill b followin my friends n b keepin up or beatin them n then all of a sudden there they go n i cant go no faster is tere a way to change that???
Katshot November 21st, 2004, 03:01 PM I hit 146 in my FTS and backed it down because I was running out of room. Car was still pulling pretty good actually. I have the speed limiter set at 155mph but doubt I'll ever go near it. Who knows.
ONEBADMK8 December 8th, 2004, 09:37 AM I LOVE the TerminVIIIor at highway speeds. SO smooth and nice, dont even feel like 150 plus at all.
