Bengal313 April 23rd, 2007, 10:45 PM I am in the process of replacing my radio head unit from my 2000 Lincoln LS. I want to put in a after market DVD/NAV unit. I don't want the ones that flip out. I want the one that is similar to the NAV system on the later released LS's. Double Din flush mount. Any suggestion on the which brand/model to buy?

eastcoastLS April 24th, 2007, 12:32 PM you know you want more screen than just 6.5 inches. go with a custom mold 10 inch in there!
Bengal313 April 24th, 2007, 02:11 PM Okay here is the deal. I want it to look clean and stock as possible. I was told to order the trim from the dealer. Most of them I seen are silver. Do they make them in black and more importantly will they fit th 2000 LS? As for the screen size what would be a nice size that would fit properly. I was thinking about the AVIC-Z1?
alnih12 April 24th, 2007, 03:50 PM If i had the money i'd get the AVIC-Z1, looks like it'd fit perfectly and would add major style to the interior. I just bought me a new system 2 12" Kicker CompVR's,a bandpass box, 1800 watt amp, 320w tweeters, amp kit, and new 6x8's for the rear. I got this all for 380 shipped a good deal. I just need a new head unit too it has to be a pioneer because the disc changer that came with the car is pioneer. If only i could afford that one, im thinking bout getting the pioneer DEH-P7800MP receiver.
Bengal313 April 25th, 2007, 11:24 AM Can the nav sys for the 03 Lincoln LS be installed in a 2000 LS?

Mexican3001 April 25th, 2007, 12:30 PM no, the plugs and everything is different for a nav system, plus you would need the gps antenna for that usint as well their would be a lot of wiring work involved just not worth it in my opinion, just get the factory bezel from team ford or ls koncepts and order the factory ford motorcraft black paint and paint it up, youll have to mod the bezel, but once it fits in it will look great, did this about a week ago. ill post some pictures later on today
Bengal313 April 29th, 2007, 09:42 PM Okay I am going with the after market Pioneer AVIC Z1. I am also going to order the bezel from the dealer and paint it black to match. Before I pony up all this cash. Is there anyone that has put in a Nav system in the LS and used the same bezel? Were there any special customizing and complications? Also I would love to see pics of someone that has done this. Thanx
Mexican3001 April 29th, 2007, 09:55 PM yeah ive done this, most of the cutting for the bezel will be in the back most of the back plastic its simple just as long as you have some time, it will come out looking good, just finished up my system with dd nav from eclipse bt kit and ipod with custom box n kicker sx digital amp washed my beauty up today and ill finally get to take some pics tomorrow and post it up so you can see
Mexican3001 April 30th, 2007, 09:22 PM heres some pics of my navi eclipse avn 6610 with the blue tooth kit
Bengal313 April 30th, 2007, 10:16 PM Wow that looks great. Nice and clean. Looks OEM. I am planning on doing the same thing. I found a site that sells the Lincoln Bezel in black ($60 + 12.50) plus shipping of course.

Mexican3001 April 30th, 2007, 10:19 PM thanks, yeah thats the place i got my bezel and paint from team ford parts is their name, fast shipping too, i recommend them
Bengal313 April 30th, 2007, 10:22 PM Another quick question. I was looking around and found n upgraded AVIC Z1. The Z2. Is it worth paying the extra money for the new one? What are the new features?
Mexican3001 May 1st, 2007, 08:05 AM i would take a look at avic411.com if your looking to watch movies and drive the z1 i believe is easier to bypass than the z2 but just take a look they talk about everything related to pioneers avic series. hope this helps
