Just got in some shock mounts in to replace the old noises ones i have in there now. I was just trying to take out the shock , started to remove the middle bolt on top of the shock and the bolt and everyhting would just spin with the shock.?? Whats the best way to replace my shock mounts.??
Thanks.

Use an impact wrench. Bet that nut comes off then. If you don't have air supply, then just buy one of those electric ones.

I have had to use a vice grip (curved pipe style) to hold the shaft and a wrench to turn the nut, enought to get it started.

actually if you have a large wrench you can hold the shaft because its flat on two sides. Its hard to see it but I ran into the same problem when I first did it. FYI, you don't have to remove the shock completely when doing this. First take off that center nut, remove the two that are holding the shock mount in, raise the car and the shock and mount will lower from the hole. Replace the mount and have someone carefully guide it back while you lower the car.

I just take mine to a local shop and they take the nut off for free.

Well, again the people on this forum kick aSS. Thanks for the helps. Vise grips on the top of the middle bolt and a open end wrench worked fine.
And taking the three bolts off @ the top first. then raising the car to the let the shock drop out! Awsome tip. It was pretty easy thing do finish up!
Thanks ALL!
