I need your opinion guys. I’ve found a 03 Lightning with 14000 miles and a 06 Mustang GT with 6000 miles. Both are 23500. My monthly payment for either would be the same as I’m paying for my 03 LS with 78000. That is the only reason I’m considering the trade (I really do love my Lincoln). Insurance is actually cheaper on either one compared to the LS. Question is which one will hold its value better for the next 5 years 85000 miles or until Lincoln comes out with its next hotrod? I’m leaning towards the lightning but I like the fuel mileage better in the Mustang. Both are black. The only downfall of the Mustang is that it is an automatic, but the Lightning is to. I drive mostly highway (about 70 miles round trip to work) so does anyone have an idea about real world mileage for the lightning on the highway? I have a friend who said he gets 18-19 on the highway in his 04 Lightning. How does the Mustang GTs do on the highway? I hear they get around 23 on the highway. Thanks guys for your input.

look for an 03 Cobra, I've seen a bunch of kids driving the Lightning around lately, so they probably aren't too expensive. I'm sure the 06 GT will keeps its value pretty well for a couple years, but who knows, its hard to say. The 03 Cobra's are sicknasty tho, probably the only mustang I'd ever think about buying.

personally i was going to get a lightning before my LS, they're fast as fCK. i heard they are just horrible in any snow/rain, plus they are 2 pas so it wasn't really smart for me to get one. they look good but then sometimes i look at them i find the body style weird. i think i really just fell in love with the cars power.

Only issue is the truck sux in the rain and snow, Mustangs are not all that great but my wife does pretty good with ours, my best friends lightning sits all winter.

I have a nasty wheather truck, so snow and rain aren't a problem. If I can get 16-18 on the highway, I'm ok with that. Thanks for the opinions

"everybody" has a Rustang. I'd go with the lightning for 2 reasons.

1. More power than the rustang (Yes, it weighs a bit more than it too).
2. Not as common as the Mustang.

Then again, I'm biased towards pick-up trucks anyways.

Well I settled on the Lightning but the dealer just couldn't quite get it were I wanted it. So I guess I'll have to wait. At least I did find out that I'd prefer the lightning over the stang. I guess I'm back to trying to get my remote start working on my LS. Thanks guys for your input.

Well, I hope the dealer will get it where you want it because the Lightning is awesome. I've wanted a Lightning ever since I had my two Contour SVTs. Black all the way!

Point is, mustangs are a dime a dozen. Lightnings... not so much.

my dad's got an 02 model with mods. it'll blow the tires off at 55 on the highway. if it's modded you need to try it out.
