Now my car started to sqreech on startup and while running and I mean loud, high pitch sqreeching from the front of the engine. Can't pin point where it's coming from. Took the belt off and spun the pulleys and they seemed all tight, no wobble and sounds. The belt is about 4 months old and for the heck of it I kept the old belt and installed it and the same noises. I hope the hell it isn't the compressor because sometimes it sounds like it's coming from that area and then it sounds like it's coming from the water pump and then the idle arm pulley. The car is getting back at me for some reason, first the blow out plug on the underside of the intake blew out and now this, wow! I guess I'll start with the idle pulleys, then the water pump and then the compressor, the car just turned 70,000 miles and it's a 93. The car isn't over heating and the alternator is maybe a year old and no electrical problems so I'm stumped.

pick up a mechanics stethoscope, they are something like $5 bucks at harbor freight tools, maybe $10-$15 at autozone. This will help you to pin point the noise. Or try using a long socket extension, place it on the part you wanna listen to and put your ear up to it. Good luck.

replace the idler pulley, AND the tensioner pulley.
~$15 per, and takes no more than 20 minutes to swap out. While your at it, spend the extra money, and get a new tensioner ASSY. It'll come with the pulley already installed.

It turned out to be the 4 month old belt!! I guess the back got too slick and screeched when it road over the idle pulley, tensioner, and the water pump pulley. I never had something like that happen before especially with the noise that came from it you would think that something was going to blow up. Thanks guys for the tips.:)

i would still do at least the tensioner, it sounds like its just a little too loose causing the backside to glaze, id fix it before this belt goes to crap also

Thanks Chicken, that's a good thought and probably save me a headache later on, don't want to be changing belts every 4 months, can get a little costly at $30 something a pop.:)
