91 Octane ... Really?

Hi,

I was wondering, does anyone have experience running the Navigator on regular gas that does not meet the supposed 91 octane requirement that the owners manual recommends?

The sales guys at the stealer (read as dealer) had once said that you could run it on regular but i was concerned that that could lead to more problems.

Please share your experiences with me

All the best

Tom

Why would you want to run a motor designed for premium unleaded on regular unleaded? Heve you ever done the math to see how much you are *not* saving by running regular in a motor that requires premium?

The difference on 87 and 92 is 20 cents give or take a cent, on ten gallons that is $2 on twenty gallons its $4, small cost................engines big cost

I have tried running my caddy on reg unleaded-the car runs fine no pinging or knocking BUT I GET LESS MPG ON THE LOWER OCTANE so running the premium ends up costing the same as reg unleaded-as far as LONG term effect running reg unleaded will probaly lead to carbon build up on valves and pistons, clogged fuel rails so dont do it !!!!!!!

Price differences in Canada for Prem vs Reg is about 0.40 per US Gal.

Thanks for your feedback
